thegamezmaster
Hey! Glad to hear you got it open. Thanks, you were right! Just hope my "fix" works. You're welcome. I'm on the edge of my seat... I'm on the edge of my seat too!lol I'll check a little bit later. Hope it works, being a leftie. If it doesn't would taking the tape off and putting glue directly on the switch help. Remember reading something about this problem but can't remember where and what they did. Thanks again for all the help!
thegamezmaster
Checked and you have to push down real hard on the left button to work. Tried more glue and see if that helps.

Ataritard
so far no luck, unless I want to mash down on the left button. Bummer fur sure dude! Did you use an eraser on the square part under the dome switch to clean it?
thegamezmaster
Do you mean lift the plastic piece up that's covering it and clean? Thanks!
Ataritard
Do you mean lift the plastic piece up that's covering it and clean? Thanks! Lift the tape and the silver dome. It's what is under the silver dome that you want to clean with an eraser. Then put silver dome and tape back on and it should work like new.

tripletopper
Oh an update, there were 3 things wrong. One the tape was covering the contact. 2 the silver electric contact button was oriented 180 degrees wrong, and 3 the contact was dirty, so I isopropylholed the contact, got more scotch tape, and made the silver disc oriented the same way is he right hand side. One, Two or all 3 of those things fixed the problem. I just played, "How is the left button not like the right button?".

Since last post I found another 2600 trak-ball, this time with the RIGHT button not working, turned the metal contact 180 degrees and now it works. The 3 specific contacts are in a "y" shape. The metal contact was on an "A" shape (an upside-down Y) If it's oriented as an A, turn that frown upside down. Meanwhile I noticed a common problem with 3 out of 4 Flywheels among 2 2600 and 2 5200 trak-balls, that I'll search and find a post for.
