candle
this is still very early version, since i've been working on this for 2 days during the easter, and most of that time was spent with my familly and uhm, graphics tools Sebastian HL.xex
+CharlieChaplin
Well, some sidenote: If I remember correctly HL was released in Tajemnicze Atari and err, the original version works only on mono-Ataris. When I upgraded to a stereo Atari, this game did not work anymore. Allthough the game has no sound, it makes some illegal calls or jumps to the area of the second Pokey chip. Luckily Fandal patched the game for me, so a stereo compatible version is (hopefully) available on his site... I still love the Kenny Loggins song with the same name, maybe someone (Miker?) could do a conversion of the 1982 pop-song for this A8 game...?!? -Andreas Koch. Rybags
Not bad for a couple of days effort. Had a quick look under the hood - are you using blits to remap a legacy character screen into VBXE bitmap ?
candle
Charlie: this was first thing i've encountered - it tryes to read random number from uninitialised pokey in a loop and leaves it only if that randomised number is equal to something Rybags: yup, something like this lots to do if i want animations like in pc version
Rybags
Cool... did you happen to find that other piece of VBXE work we were discussing the other day ?
candle
unfortunatly, no, we need to get in touch with Thelen...

+Stephen
Looks cool. I am obviously too stupid to figure out how to clear the first level though
Rybags
Creative placement/use of the bombs does the trick.
Mclaneinc
Being as stupid as I am I also got stuck at the first level... At my age being stupid is the least of my problems For those like me:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzRKmohj2uc&hd=1 Last level seen is the first on the Atari version.. candle
another update this time tunnels work both ways and most importantly i've added animations now it will be up hill, as i need to write some code for balloons and proper (pc like) tunnell handling also, i found tile studio very handy for getting the graphics done (not that i draw it, but it still quite usefull tool, wish it would export data directly to the format i need)
Rybags
If it helps, Gimp can save BMP to a raw format where it puts the palette stuff in one file and bitmap in another.
candle
i've added balloons, so every level shold be passable, plus i've converted all levels data from pc version what i would like is some nice title screen graphics, music (both for pokey and soundboard (*.neo)) and it would neat little game i'll work on this one for some more to bring it closer to ypc version, and i'm hoping to get to that point before atari eeting in glucholazy this year current version Edited July 17, 2012 by candle
Rybags
Up to this level - seems I'm stuck with nothing to do, you can't push the balloons around or anything. Although we're obviously in the midst of dev here, it'd be real nice is to be able to start at levels you've already run through.
candle
yup, balloons can't be pushed right now, but its on my todo list funny thing though we could have this conversation through PM, and it wouldn't make a diffrence
candle
better late than never, but you can push balloons, hero dies as seen on pc, and i've added music maybe some good soul will find the time to draw some title screen and perhaps second music - ie like the one on pc HL.xex 11
candle
to those 14 people that actually use vbxe... here is another version level transitions as seen on pc HL.xex 5

candle
minor update - fixed some animation issues, introduced some more hl.xex
Keatah
This doesn't work on Altirra, does it? This last version doesn't work in altirra. But that's alright, as it's the emulator's job to mirror real hardware. Edited August 19, 2019 by Keatah
