dustygraves. #1 Posted June 17, 2012 i have had this thing for some time now and it was working just fine until recently(. does anyone know who made it? is it rare/uncommon? i have tried to find info on it but no luck yet, any help would be grateful)
Rex Dart #2 Posted June 17, 2012 I would venture to guess that it was made by Super UFO. I've never seen it before, so I'm guessing it's at least uncommon. Found a tiny bit of info on it.
the.golden.ax #3 Posted June 17, 2012 I had one of those in 1998 / 99. Hadn't seen one since, so fairly rare.
dustygraves. #4 Posted June 17, 2012 thank you! that link was more than i had been able to find0 the only thing is that the battery cover on mine is not removeable. to bad this thing died because i really liked it especially to play star control 2. the.golden.ax #5 Posted June 17, 2012 If you want I can have a look at it, see if it is repairable.

Punisher5.0 #7 Posted June 17, 2012 The prototype M2 controllers used these as their shells. The insides were FPGA though.
dustygraves. #8 Posted June 18, 2012 hey man).thanks for that bit of info punisher5.0! what does FPGA stand for?? my knowledge of electronics is not very high).
Rex Dart #9 Posted June 18, 2012 The prototype M2 controllers used these as their shells. The insides were FPGA though. What, really? So this thing is kinda halfway pseudo-semi-official in some aspect? Nuts.
Punisher5.0 #10 Posted June 18, 2012 hey man).thanks for that bit of info punisher5.0! what does FPGA stand for?? my knowledge of electronics is not very high). It stands for Field Programmable Gate Array. It's an actual protoype board instead of the standard 3DO controller PCB. Here are some pics I have of my own controller:
+Austin #11 Posted June 18, 2012 This thread shows two types of M2 proto pads--the N64 semi knock-off, and the one talked about here: http://3do.cdinterac...opic.php?t=2463

Hatta #13 Posted June 18, 2012 6 buttons. I take it this is the controller one wants for 3DO SFII?
Rex Dart #14 Posted June 18, 2012 Probably so; looks like it has a better dpad than my six button, and appears to have the "P" button in the correct spot for SSFII, too.
+Austin #15 Posted June 19, 2012 6 buttons. I take it this is the controller one wants for 3DO SFII? There are a few. Personally, I'd take this one.
Rex Dart #16 Posted June 19, 2012 Just don't get this one for Street Fighter; what you'd expect to be Medium Punch is the Pause button in this game. Had to open mine up, cut the trace, solder in a wire to make it work as a punch button.
the.golden.ax #17 Posted June 19, 2012 SNES to 3do adapters are fairly nice.
Rex Dart #18 Posted June 19, 2012 Man, I bet. Expensive, too.
the.golden.ax #19 Posted June 19, 2012 Man, I bet. Expensive, too. It's got me thinking now... I think I can make those hmnnn, maybe in my next life when I get all my other project done and get free time to do what I like (when/what is that!?)
+Austin #20 Posted June 19, 2012 Man, I bet. Expensive, too. The sad part is that about a year and a half ago, GameExpress.com had them NIB for $7.99 plus shipping. They began selling like crazy, then they jacked the prices up to $30. Now they are sold out, and you can't really get them anywhere. I don't see them popping up on eBay much either. Hatta #21 Posted June 19, 2012 Wow, I didn't see that deal. I ordered 2 copies of Zhadnost from GameExpress around that time, solely for the included controllers. Wish I had seen the 6 button controllers.
Rex Dart #22 Posted June 19, 2012 I wonder if a multitap for the 3DO could be built, based on whatever chip does the daisy-chain function inside a standard pad?

Had to open mine up, cut the trace, solder in a wire to make it work as a punch button. Yeah, but then none of the other games work properly! I think a switch is in order for this. It galls me that Capcom had to go against the grain and swap the functions of the P and X buttons just so they could sell their own controller.

It galls me that Capcom had to go against the grain and swap the functions of the P and X buttons just so they could sell their own controller. It's not even so much that the buttons are swapped--the problem stems from the "X" button exiting the control mapping screen in their own game, heh. If that didn't happen, any controller would be perfectly fine for Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Other games, like Primal Rage, have better configuration options that will work with any control pad.
