Hi everyone! Looks like no challegnes from me yet, eh? :)

Could you please try to convert this nice girl's photo (at least her face)?

I know the red color could be main problem.

But, well...

I'm running it now - I may have to do some touchups. Sometimes removing the stray hairs help out.

Currently at 88.5 million iterations:

Up to 350 million iterations, resolving nicely:

OK - I've stopped at 900 million. I've attached all the files if anyone wants to resume this.

attachicon.gif900 million.jpg

attachicon.gifStephen_g83.xex

attachicon.gifg83.zip

Several problems with this. I did not manually resize, so the aspect ratio is squashed. I gave a pretty girl a fat football face. Also, I have removed the dithering required for the background, in an effort to remove the two areas with banding. I was able to get a normal distance of 10 with only 9 million iterations! I'll let this one go for a while, and hope for the best. Here's a little teaser:

Who's that girl?

This was a song in the 80s...

It was also a theme song for a 60's American TV show called either 'That Girl' or 'Who's that Girl?' They are source of inspiration for the 80's song you refer too.

I finally got around to learning Rasta Converter, or I should say learning how to ready pictures properly to come out looking decent once gone through the meat grinder.

Anyway, I'm a fan of airplanes among other forms of transportation and here is a folder with a few pictures made with my now sophomoric abilities using this utility. I'm working on some pictures of sailing ships next. Most of the images have a dithered and non-dithered version.

Sorry about no evaluation numbers or .png image postings, I'm having fun here, and that just isn't...for me. The picture is done when it looks done, regardless of how many evaluations IMHO. Some took as little as 10 mil, up to over 600 mil. And from my little experience, there are 4 different images total in the process, the source, the destination, the output AND what the .XEX really looks like on a real Atari, and if you aren't enjoying them on the real thing. then what's the point? Just view the sources on your PC!

mch file

How is an MCH file created from the rastaconverter files?

I'd heard that rastaconverter was supported by Graph2Font, but I don't ever recall hearing anyone talk about how to get from point A to point B. It's obviously extremely useful to do this.

All my images have only been reduced to 320x240 and sharpened up with Infraview 64 before they hit the Rasta Grinder. Other than that, I play around with the brightness, contrast, gamma and the palettes for what I feel are the best results. I have not yet ventured into using masks. There are a few here that I have run through hundreds of millions of evaluations, but most I stop between 50-100 million and that's what you get. I'm too excited to move onto the next image! :-D

Rasta grab bag 1.5

Very nice conversions!

Could you please follow topic's first post rules

Original image (optional), converted image preview, Atari .xex file (filename format: "Author's name_Imagename").

and post at least converted images previews?

It's useful to see images without the need to unzip and open them with emulator.

An example of many conversions (by ilmenit) posted together: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/200118-images-generated-by-rastaconverter/?p=2557165

I am glad you like my images, but as I stated when I first posted some of them; I am doing this for fun, and keeping track of evaluations and spending time posting the images and the rest of it is not fun for me, with all the images I am doing and submitting, it would be hours and hours of real work, and quite frankly, I don't care. If I must follow those "rules" to post images, then I will not post images here anymore. If anyone wants to see anymore images from me, and also don't give a damn about my name on them or the evaluations it took and actually want to see the .xex's on a real Atari or emulator and not a pictures on the forum, can find my images on Atari Sector.

thank you.

Perhaps I wasn't clear.

I only asked to post previews, screenshots (rename xex is not so important).

It took me four minutes to make the following 11 your images with Altirra:

Ten more minutes and task completed. Gunstar's xex are here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/200118-images-generated-by-rastaconverter/?p=3737442

I don't mind you doing that at all. But 4 minutes with Altirra for you is not what it would take for me. I don't use emulators, and I don't know how to use Altirra, because I never wanted to or cared. Maybe when no more working real Atari's exist but not before. But you are clear to me now, and I understand.

But whether it takes four minutes or four days, I'm busy enough with doing the images and zipping them, just that takes time. If a quick drop off of files isn't good enough, I will stop doing it here and just post them elsewhere, as I already have been doing; Atari Age is second on my list of where I post them, not first. And members of the other site have never once complained about me just posting zip files full of images. I also find it a complete waste of space to put my name in .XEX titles, I cram as much info I can into titles and attempt as close to 8.3 names as possible so even people using REAL Atari's with non-FAT drives know what they are.

I'm sorry if just dropping off DOZENS of images at a time isn't good enough. But thank you for what you did above.

15 minutes and I converted all your images making screenshots from Altirra.

But, as written, it is unnecessary.

You can also take output.png from your conversion directory. Saves the trouble of creating a screenshot.

In other words, after having completed your conversion, you can take output.png, rename it as you want and post it together with zip file.

If you don't want to do it, never mind.

Yes, thank you, I don't want too. I think I do enough, as now seen above thanks to you. That definitely makes a colorful post above!

What I've posted here between the Planes folder and the Grab bags is about half what I have so far. There is more to come if just grab bags are o.k.

Now, in new images, I will try and remember to save the output.png's to post, but what I have stock-piled already, output files are dust in the wind for them...and as I said, I don't use, have or want Altirra or other emulators to get screen grabs from, so you'll have to do more of the same for me if that's what you want.

In th pictures Philsan so kindly took the time to post, the 2nd image entitled Mars2051 and the 6th image entitled ScrewGalaxy are mis-labeled, those names belong to other pictures, I'm not sure if Philsan was entering these by hand or what, maybe the names got mixed up somehow when I was working on the grab-bag folder, but their real names are Hatchlings and SaturnRising respectively. The images with the other names are also included in the grab bag.

As far as I know, these are all public-domain images, those that had real names I kept, maybe shortened them, but others just had number and letter jargon and I gave them creative names of my own.

I personally find it much more exciting to see the .xex images for the first time on a real Atari, and not screen shots of them in the forum.

I entered filenames by hand using a tiny netbook keyboard.

I corrected two wrong filenames and added two missing images.
