+atari2600land
As some of you may know, I have been writing games for the Odyssey². This is a thread for the current game I'm working on called "Super Giuseppe!" which is basically Super Mario Bros. on the Odyssey². In this binary, you start from the beginning. There are two levels, the second one isn't finished yet, in fact I'm not even halfway done with it yet. In the second level, you're falling and the object of it is to avoid the enemies and get to the end of the level (the end of the level hasn't been programmed in yet. It just loops forever right now.) What do you think? giu30beginning.bin
+Gemintronic
Never got to level 2. Very cool though. I take it that's not really scrolling, right? I would NEVER fake scrolling myself
+atari2600land
Works on an Odyssey2. Need a Videopac/Jopac tester. giu32.bin

+atari2600land
I fixed the problem I was talking about in today's blog entry. When this new version is played on real hardware, the ship sometimes blinks. I don't know what is causing it. Well, anyway, at least it looks better than it did. Here's the latest binary file. giu38.bin
+atari2600land
I went back and redid level 1 so it looks nicer. Here's a little video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szKe_y55edc
+atari2600land
Fiddling around with level 2 now. It's very early start, so there's not much to do right now. giu39.bin
+atari2600land
I'm back working on this again. Got it so the coins can have different places in the level. Still not much to do except swim and avoid the fish. giu45.bin
+atari2600land
Ending test. This is code for testing the end of level 2. Level 2 will be longer than what it is now, so if the game gets finished, you'll see the ending later than when it shows up now. giu49.bin
+Gemintronic
I haven't caught up with all your progress. I'm still in awe of your level 1 enhancements! Looks like you figured out a way to have your character "stomp" the enemies. Good work!
+atari2600land
Here's a video of some more enhancements to level 1. Thanks for the compliments. http://youtu.be/geXYkDgWyAM
+atari2600land
Begun work on level 3. Right now there's nothing much to do. Shooting the bird is impossible right now and because of this, I put him at a place where you can't get him. Stuff to do: +make bird move from right to left +make bird disappear when you shoot him +add new bird y positions +add new coin y positions if you have any suggestions, give them to me to consider. giu56.bin Edited April 13, 2013 by atari2600land
+atari2600land
I'm just curious as to what you think about level 3 and its difficulty. Too hard? giulevel3.bin
Cybearg
Does it come with any overlays?
+atari2600land
This is an Odyssey2, not an original Odyssey.
+atari2600land
I've decided to give up on this one right now because it looks like it's too ambitious for me and my poor programming skills. I may come back to it in a few years (or when I hope to have enough skills to master programming this stupid thing.)
+Gemintronic
Sorry I didn't find time to cobble together an emulator. I used to play your builds on my Dingoo but that got lost somewhere in my house. It's good to know when to take a break from a project. Sometimes it's the only way forward, funnily enough.
+atari2600land
OK, I'm back working on this again! This latest build has level 1 and level 2. If you get a game over in level 2, you start at the beginning of level 1, but if you finish level 2, you begin at the beginning of level 2. giufirsthalfjune32013.bin
+atari2600land
Super Giuseppe is finished, unless someone finds a bug on European hardware (VideoPac).
ZylonBane
So, is there any specific reason you decided to give this a name that pretty much nobody knows how to pronounce?
+atari2600land
Giuseppe is an Italian name. So is Mario. I couldn't think of any other Italian name besides Mario, Luigi, and Giuseppe. I thought it was pronounced "ju-sep-ay".
+atari2600land
Judging from the less-than-luke-warm reaction, I've decided to retool the game to try to make it better. Right now I'm working on level 1. I've put the clouds back in. Bugs are expected since I'm in the middle of working on this right now. giulevel1oct152013.bin
+Cafeman
One of my best friends' name is Giuseppe. Pronounced "Ja-sepp'-pee". He also goes by "Joe". Yes, an Italian family (his parents were born in Italy). I LOL'd at the pun when I first saw this post. Keep working on it!
killersquirel
Is there an odyssey cartridge that you can load binaries on to play on a real machine? I'm extremely interested in trying this on real hardware. -mike

It's called C7050, and I was lucky enough to buy one when I had the chance.
