Sealed Heavy-Sixer (1977) - Have You Seen ANY Like This?

I am what I would consider to be a serious Atari 2600 collector - haven't purchased anything in a few years, as other things in life have taken priority. Thankfully though it's never come down to selling anything. There is always the possibility this COULD happen though. I am asking for the community's help here, in understanding if I have a rare piece.

 

Over the years, I have not seen any others like it. I've seen ONE out of Japan that had the grey lettering on the front, but that is the only one I've seen. I purchased this back in 2006 on a risk. As far as I can tell (and I have other sealed consoles) - this has NEVER been opened. I am not willing to open it myself to verify, because at least judging by the box, this might be a very rare piece. All of your collective knowledge and the things you've seen will hopefully help me figure it out.

 

I'm not looking for whether you think the box is sealed - I'm specifically interested to know if you've seen any boxes exactly like this, as I have not. Thanks everyone!!

Thank you for your response - I am seeing one of the ones on eBay now with the grey lettering - not sure how I missed that in my previous searches.

 

Any ideas as to what this might be worth? The roughest section of the box is the bottom right, pictured ... it is in very good shape. I haven't seen a sealed sixer for a while on eBay, but my searching has been hit and miss in the last few months.

I think I remember this heavy sixer because I tried to buy it as well. I remember the seller was in Idaho, and I tried like crazy to contact them, but never was able too, so I didn't bid very high. The problem of course is it's difficult to know if it's really a new in the box heavy sixer without opening it, but of course you don't want to open it because that would hurt the value. It's the old catch 22. My humble opinion is it's worth around a $1000 because new in the box 4 switches go for around $400 to $600.

That depends on if someone is looking for a sealed one or a new one to open and play. If I were to bid on one, it would be to play. I would want to see that there is a brand new mint fully functional Heavy Sixer in there. I would be paranoid that it is a used one or not even a Heavy Sixer resealed in the box.

 

If it was the other way around and I was the seller, I would be worried that opening it would lower the value for bidders who are looking for a sealed one but I would also be worried that someone looking for a new one to play would rip me off. They could probably get away with taking out the new one, putting in a junked one, filing a claim for item not as described, and then ship the box back with the junked one. So, if I were to sell it on eBay, I would be more comfortable carefully opening it and selling it as mint in box. If I wanted to sell it sealed then I would sell it on here to someone with an excellent reputation for being honest.
