Does Atari 7800 Flashback controllers work for the 7800 console

Just wondering if the atari 7800 flashback controllers were fully compatible with the actual atari 7800 console.Found a pair for a decent price but i dont want to buy them unless there 100% compatible sorry i keep asking these questions just trying to be sure before i spend money on it thx in advance.

The controllers with the original flashback (that looked like a small 7800) will NOT work on the 7800. They are closer in operation to NES controllers.

So can they be modified to work with a 7800? If that's the case, somebody is going to be busy with some modding.

They probably can be modified by bypassing the internal encoder chip and directly wiring the buttons to a cable. But those controllers look like they are rather cramped on the inside, making such things probably difficult.
