Turbo Laser Lynx Posted September 15, 2020 Share Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) In the first post, is the top one NTSC and the bottom one PAL? There were no clues on the images or in the file names, so that's why I'm asking. Big hats off to your huge work here Trebor! ? An easy way to convert between the two is to think that NTSC colours are a row higher (or vice versa) so #$34 on PAL would be closest to #$24 on NTSC. The greyscale range at #$0x being the exception. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Trebor Posted September 15, 2020 Author Share Posted September 15, 2020 Here's a cheat sheet of sorts: NTSC $1x <--> PAL $2x NTSC $2x <--> PAL $3x NTSC $3x <--> PAL $4x NTSC $4x <--> PAL $5x NTSC $5x <--> PAL $6x NTSC $6x <--> PAL $7x NTSC $7x <--> PAL $8x NTSC $8x <--> PAL $9x NTSC $9x <--> PAL $Ax NTSC $Ax <--> PAL $Bx NTSC $Bx <--> PAL $Cx NTSC $Cx <--> PAL $Dx NTSC $Dx <--> PAL $Ex NTSC $Ex <--> PAL $Fx NTSC $Fx <--> N/A - Best nearest PAL $2x PAL $1x <--> N/A - Best nearest NTSC $Dx A 'finalized' version of (and in harmony with) this thread, is here: 1 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Eagle Posted May 3, 2022 Share Posted May 3, 2022 @Trebor Is there any significant differences between A8 and A7800 Pallet? (NTSC/PAL) Both looks almost this same to me. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(NTSC/PAL) No. The thread below is current with palette insights and variety. Post #22 for Direct download of the most recent palette archive: 20 hours ago, Eagle said: Both looks almost this same to me. Ditto with the NTSC 2600, just half the number of luminance values. PAL 2600 behaves similar to PAL 7800, but the palette order is shuffled around; additionally, the range values that undergo the most significant changes are grayscale ($0x) instead: $1x, $Ex, $Fx... $1x = Strictly and very significantly impacted by the hue/tint setting of the display with system 'warm-up' having no impact. $Ex & $Fx = Strongly and often very significantly impacted by the 'warm-up' of the system in conjunction with the hue/tint of the display. Here's the actual order: PAL 2600 $0x = PAL 7800 $0x PAL 2600 $1x = PAL 7800 $0x PAL 2600 $2x = PAL 7800 $2x PAL 2600 $3x = PAL 7800 $Dx PAL 2600 $4x = PAL 7800 $3x PAL 2600 $5x = PAL 7800 $Cx PAL 2600 $6x = PAL 7800 $4x PAL 2600 $7x = PAL 7800 $Bx PAL 2600 $8x = PAL 7800 $5x PAL 2600 $9x = PAL 7800 $Ax PAL 2600 $Ax = PAL 7800 $6x PAL 2600 $Bx = PAL 7800 $9x PAL 2600 $Cx = PAL 7800 $7x PAL 2600 $Dx = PAL 7800 $8x PAL 2600 $Ex = PAL 7800 $0x PAL 2600 $Fx = PAL 7800 $0x Or the same thing grouped another way: PAL 2600 $2x = PAL 7800 $2x PAL 2600 $4x = PAL 7800 $3x PAL 2600 $6x = PAL 7800 $4x PAL 2600 $8x = PAL 7800 $5x PAL 2600 $Ax = PAL 7800 $6x PAL 2600 $Cx = PAL 7800 $7x PAL 2600 $Dx = PAL 7800 $8x PAL 2600 $Bx = PAL 7800 $9x PAL 2600 $9x = PAL 7800 $Ax PAL 2600 $7x = PAL 7800 $Bx PAL 2600 $5x = PAL 7800 $Cx PAL 2600 $3x = PAL 7800 $Dx PAL 2600 $0x = PAL 7800 $0x PAL 2600 $1x = PAL 7800 $0x PAL 2600 $Ex = PAL 7800 $0x PAL 2600 $Fx = PAL 7800 $0x 2 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
