As someone who had the 5200 at launch with Pacman.. out of curiosity did the one you play on the 600xl have the "correct" waka waka sound effect? To me the crappy sound effects of the dot-eating on the 5200 version was ALWAYS the thing that made it feel so off. And when the internet came around and I found Atari 8-bit computer versions that had the proper sound in there it kind of made me pissed we got shafted on the 5200 version.

There are actually three official Atari 8-bit versions if you count the 5200 cartridge as an 8-bit release:

• Atari computer cartridge - No intermissions; Atari Fuji instead of the Namco Galaxian in levels 9 and 10.
• Atari 5200 cartridge - Same as the Atari 400/800 cartridge, but with intermissions.
• Datasoft computer disk - Intermissions; darker shade of blue for the maze; Namco Galaxian in levels 9 and 10; different sound for dot-eating.

I vote Hack 'em, but I really enjoy the Pac-Man Arcade lineage as well. I'd love to see a slightly rebalanced hack of Jr. Maybe just slow the ghosts down a tiny bit (10-20%?), and you'd have it.

The sound effects, and ghost logic are insanely awesome.

 

It was released even after the last comment on THIS thread, so it is pretty new!

 

 

 

 

 

Nukey Shay's pac-man is also quite nice. Blinky gets faster towards the end of the stage and everything

 

I love any and all work done by the amazing coders for this game. They are all fun to try!

I really like Arcade Enhanced, although Pac-Man 8K is not on the list and is my favorite.

Voted for Ms. Pac-Man. It was a great improvement over Pac-Man, the maze design was spot on, and the difficulty was perfect and fun to play. Jr. Pac Man close second.

I honestly never really cared for ms. Pacman. I voted jr. Pacman because I have alot of fun every time I play it.
