Shufflehound
I'm not sure if it's a programming error or that there's something wrong with my controller, but on Super Breakout, when I turn the pot left, the "bat" goes right and vice versa. Is this actually how the game is programmed or should I switch the wires round in the paddle controller?
+save2600
you holding it with the orange button to the right? Edited December 30, 2013 by save2600
Shufflehound
Regardless of what direction I hold the controller, it's the same as it's a circular controller.
+save2600
Oh.. you're using the driving controller and not the paddles with Breakout? that would explain the funky behavior... Paddles for Breakout, etc. has a mate and both are connected to the same controller port. These paddles do not spin 360 degrees. Driving controller is a single paddle and rotates 360. Shufflehound
No,no,no. The paddle controllers act the same regardless of what orientation you're playing it at.
Shufflehound
I'll rephrase then: When you play Super Breakout, is the bat moving the opposite direction to the direction that you turn the knob? That seems to be the case with me. Should I fix the controller or is it the game?
+save2600
No, the bat shouldn't be moving in the opposite direction as you're turning. Both paddles exhibiting the same behavior? Maybe someone reversed the outer wires on the pots? May as well give it a try and see if you can't get it straightened out...
jhd
What happens with other paddle games, e.g. Kaboom?
metarog
Yes, the wires on the pots are reversed... I got a pair like this some time back and just desoldered the ends of the wires and just switched them. They will work fine once this is done.

Shufflehound
What happens with other paddle games, e.g. Kaboom? I haven't got any other working paddle games, but like everyone else said, the wires were inverted. Thanks for your help!
