Wrathchild
With great help from Paul Lay who was able to locate the cause of a bug that was holding up the release of this title, I can let this ROM out for testing / enjoyment. Its base is the PAL A8 version and I've changed the "Ape's" orange to a better NTSC color. Due to the code/ROM size a loading/title screen had to be dropped. One thing I'm aware of is the music speed is slightly faster than the PAL as the note delays are coded into the tune data, but this doesn't detract much. Let me know how you get on with it. rampage_ntsc.zip
+Allan
I will check this out tonight on my Atarimax cart. Thank you for doing this Wrathchild and thanks Paul for finding the bug. Allan

MAC-42
My kids are hogging the TV--oh, the joys of spring break--so I'll chase them off when their show is over and give this a look. Thanks!

Charlie_
Awesome. I'm looking forward to trying this.
Charlie_
Plays well. I wish the 2nd button was jump. I tried with the stock controller and had a rough time climbing buildings from the ground. lots of fun though. Thanks!
Greg2600
I don't remember how far along the earlier version was, but am very pleased that it's been updated. Graphics/sound are great on this game! Look better than the 7800 version. Like Official Ninja said, the controls are really tough. Can't punch at opposite buildings either, if that's even possible in this port. zylon
Controls aside, it plays well on my system.
Wrathchild
To be honest the control are frustrating enough on the original A8 game, punching the buildings is very tricky and often I end up getting propelled off! Certainly possible to take a look to see if punching can be assigned to keys instead - any preference to layout?

Wrathchild
Would that work for 2 players? From what I'm reading the VTRIGR interrupt can be used and the SKSTAT bit checked for being pressed, but how do you determine which controller caused it? Greg2600
Wouldn't the 8-bit version have functioned with just one button? Not sure if mapping to keypad is a great idea, since those usually work like crap.
MIKE5200
How about a Pinball game for the 5200?
slampam
Play Castle Crisis to test your upper (2nd) fire button theory. (Don't use Atari 800Win4.0 Emu. It assigns one second button to all 4-playes. Use Kat or Altirra.) Or PM Bryan.

Wrathchild
Located the clue in this thread, use the CONSOL register to select the controller so will experiment with that, but Altirra appears to only permit one 5200 controller to be attached. Lynxpro
How about a Pinball game for the 5200? If Starball on A8 is half as good as the ST/Falcon original, then it would be a great pinball conversion for the 5200.
