Hi guys,

Back with the Frustrated Game Reviewer doing another fun video for us to enjoy. Here we see the cool dud playing Shock Troopers for the Neo-Geo. Great video from FGR no doubt! :)

From the description,

"Review of Shock Troopers finally a great shooter that doesn't feel repetitive like many from this time."

Is this the place to post want ads for the NEOGEO? If so, I'm looking for a consolized MVS.

Hey Jim,

Welcome aboard to the Neo-Geo thread. Glad you have an interest on purchasing a CMVS unit! :)

mtshark7 is right, I would recommend that link to a Omega game console. Its reliable, highly regarded, and at a reasonable price. If you need more assistance, let us know. Will be glad to help you. :)

Thanks guys for the quick response. I have had an interest in the system for years but never figured I'd actually own one until I heard about consolidation recently. I know this is likely one of the most expensive systems to collect for, and I know the CMVS you linked me is well made, but I can't afford something that high right now. It doesn't come with even a cart or controller, each of which would set he back a further $50-100. So obviously this is almost a $700 investment just to get started and playing 1 player on one game. Lol, I'm a poor unemployed law school graduate! But thanks so much for your help!

Hey Jim,

Don't give up your hopes yet .

The CMVS is a custom unit and its built to your preference. The Omega is a consolidated unit no doubt, but its on the mindset of the creator that is set in done. You still can purchase a system that can meet the needs to your liking and can get it even cheaper. It really depends on what you're looking for in one. Prices usually are around $200-$1200 dollars, but of course these consoles are to what you specify on what you consider playable to your interest!

Try Jamma Nation X and talk to James.

He's a respected member in the Neo-Geo community that can help to on what you're looking for. Just mention Anthony for the Neo-Geo thread on Atariage.com sent you and he'll try to customize a unit for you at a reasonable price. I forward many members here to acquire one and were pleased with the overall results. :)

Here's the link for your convenience.

Hope this helps Jim. Good luck and best wishes on accomplishing you goals on purchasing a CMVS and in practicing law! :)

Wow thanks Anthony!

You're welcome Jim.

Remember, you have options all over for you. Don't get dissatisfied right away because of the first price or unit you see wasn't to what you expected.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Seek and you shall find Jim. :)

Hope this helps. Come by anytime and post if you need additional help or like to post anything pertaining to the Neo-Geo. :)

I emailed Jamma X per your instructions and hope to hear back. A friend did tell me that he found a two slot full stand-up arcade with 3 games (one is a multi-cart 150 in 1), everything is working for $500. Is that a fair price for those people that have room for an arcade? Seeing that a consolized MVS without games and controllers sells for that much or more, i'm inclined to think its a decent deal.

A two slotted Neo-Geo MVS stand up unit for $500 sounds right Jim.

But those units are for those that are more comfortable on staying in one location for a long period of time, and moving them around is time consuming and troublesome in regards to movability.

The CMVS unit is to your convenience and can easily be taken so freely to one place to another. I recommend this route more seeing your starting out in your career and can move to one place to another without that big burden of that big machine.

I have gotten my hands on the following Neo Geo games in Mame, as well as these other 90's competitors to the Neo Geo. It amazes me how much detail can be packed into a game running on the now obsolete 68000 and Z80 processors. The downside, is that these games are spoiling me. I now have a little difficulty playing the SNES and Genesis versions because the characters look so small in comparison.
