luckybuck
Hi togehter! Today, I had a crazy idea. Will there be a final solution for Miner 2049er? I mean to go further then 10/10 (Shaft's limit): With todays techniques it should be possible. In the above level, the game is too fast to solve. At least I couldn't done the job. But with the help of you all, it can be done! If we force slow the Atari to 10 % with the emulators and jump into the routine, where the evil empire guys get green and killable: From here: into: it should be possible, shouldn't it? You can direct jump to the last level with this here: 10-10.pdf please change the suffix from .pdf to .a8s It is a saved state from the Atari800MacX 4.6.0 program. Would be sooooooo cool to hear from you! :-))) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Miner 2049er Programmed by Bill Hogue. Graphics and Audio Visual Displays designed by Curtis Mikolyski and Bill Hogue with Jeff Konyu and Kelly Bakst. Circuitry designed by Bill Hogue. Package Artwork by Scott Ross. Start a zone. Jump onto the first platform and position Bounty Bob so that no creatures will touch him (do NOT pause game). Hold the UPPER red fire button down while entering Big Five's phone number (2137826861) on the keypad. You will know you did it right because it will immediately restart the zone again when you enter the last digit of the phone number. Congratulations, you now have a way to 'warp' to any zone or station in the game! HOW TO USE IT Push the reset button on the joystick and select 1-0 on the keypad for the zone you want to play. (1=zone 1, 2=zone 2, ... 0=zone 10). Now, hold the upper red button down while pressing 1-0 on the keypad. This will allow you to select which station to play. You will immediately warp to the selected station! The warping ability will work at *ANY* time during the game! This is extremely useful for getting 'unlimited' lives. (HINT: If you die on a level and IMMEDIATELY warp Bounty Bob, the game will keep track of your score, but won't take away a life!) NOTES: Miner is great fun at the difficult levels. Some levels are NOT clearable. After lots of playing, the following levels have been found to be possible to clear. ZONE STATION ---- ------- 1-8 ALL 9 1-9 10 1-4, 8, 9 Zone 8/station 10 is the hardest, but IS possible. Zone 10/station 4 requires a lot of thinking/strategy to clear. Try it, it's fun! For some reason on Zone 10, Bounty Bob walks very fast and jumps a LOOONG way. This makes certain levels difficult and others impossible. However, on Zone 10/station 10, the creatures just move too fast to make it possible to clear. It's a shame, we will always be left wondering what would happen if it had been cleared. ------------------- Bounty Bob Strikes Back Designed and programmed by Bill Hogue, founder of Big 5 Software. Graphics designed by Curtis Mikolyski. A sequel that's better than the original? You bet! A follow-up to Miner 2049'er that could be the most enjoyable game ever made. The box for this game is extremely hard to come by, as is the full color poster that was packed in. To transport to another screen, grab the item mentioned below, then press and hold the number (also stated below) then press start. You will warp to the level mentioned. 1. Bob's Morning Flower pot / 1 / start = level 4 Calisthenics 2. Utility Hoist Aliens / paint roller / 3 / start = level 22 3. The Suction Tubes Goblet / 4 / start = level 15 5. Jumping 101 Coffee Pot / 8 / start = level 18 10. The Gravity Lift Pitch Fork / 5 / start = level 14 16. Adv. Suction Tubes Tube 1 to left/ pie / 9 / start = level 19 26. The End...... 'Congratulations, you are an expert! For getting this far, you may start the game at any level you desire by setting special codes 1-25 in the Game Adjustment Screen and then pressing STA
Rybags
I would think someone's completed the level a long time ago... most emulators allow disabling collision detection which could help out and the game's probably been reverse engineered to the point where lives/time cheats are possible. Also, knowing most Atari games and especially since it's only a 16K program, if there's even some end sequence at all it's probably pretty lame. luckybuck
Hi Rybags! Collision won't work, because you have to push down the stairs. That nothing will happen is just speculation, we need to know it for sure to close the X-files. Mulder will retire... It was just a crazy idea. If someone has solved it and can post a pic, that would be great. :-)))
+JAC!
I loved that game! And it is huge (40k). I created a BASIC program back then that hooked in a handler to the keyboard/break and then trigger booting the cassette. When loading arrived at the last block, I pressed a key and it poked my cheat in. I remember that was required because the game is decrypted while loading. Looks like being a (less than) mediocre gamer sometimes forces you to become a better coder Here's the original "notes" for the POKES. I clear the enemies to simulate the "disable PM collision" feature. Actually you can use that to cheat the game today. luckybuck
JAC! You are(!) a phenomenon, John Travolta must make a movie of it and was it for 90 minutes, but you were and still are a phenomenon! Incredible! Will take a closer look at that at weekend. Thousand thanks in advance so far. Ultra regards. Edited June 13, 2014 by luckybuck

+JAC!
Note: Atari800Win - F8, C BEA8 AD to stop the clock - F8, C BEA8 CE to restart the clock (required when the level ends and counts the remaining clock ticks down)
luckybuck
Wow JAC! Thanks again! Will try that with Atari800MacX and return here.
Tempest
I'm guessing it will just go to Zone 11 and will be even faster than 10.
luckybuck
If so, then even that can be beaten with JAC!'s know how... We will see. We live in interesting times. :-)
kiwilove
What is the record for Miner 2049'er anyway? No many players would have the desire to beat the game or clock it endlessly - because it takes a huge amount of time, patience, practice, practice and ability.. to play any game endlessly - and how many here are up for it? Certainly not me - even though I have admired the game. The in-built cheat tends to take away the reason to play it earnestly? Island2Live
I've read your post, luckybuck, and I am a bit puzzled: Are you talking about beating the 10th level of the game? Or are you talking about beating the 10th level again and again and again?
luckybuck
Hi Island2Live! Indeed, I would like to go beyond the last level to see what's behind it... Have you ever been boldly go, where no one has gone before?

luckybuck
Hi Goochman! How did you find out that? Can you give us proof? Screenshots or a movie? Like the end of Galahad and the Holy Grail?
Island2Live
Hi Island2Live! Indeed, I would like to go beyond the last level to see what's behind it... Understood. I just managed to go through only one loop of »Zone 1« and reached »Station 8« or so of »Zone 2«. That was enough for me. Too many great games out there ... not only for the Atari. But I am crossing my fingers for you! Kind regards, Henrik (Island2Live)
luckybuck
:-) Hi Henrik, Exactly what I thought. I managed that, loop after loop, but no one has seen so far beyond 10/10.... That is the goal. Under normal circumstances it is impossible. The game is at that point too fast. Edited July 12, 2014 by luckybuck

Harvey We played Miner back at the start of Season 6 therealbountybob : 266,705 just pipping Deteacher's 255,570 High Score Club All-Time Ratings and Records 255,570. Closed the gap there, Bob. I got to Zone 5, station 2. The baddie came out of nowhere right off the bat and took my last life. I might have one more game in me tonight. From the scoring I guess this is where you start to pick up the "impossible" screens - think I did get one screen further than this? If you find a file/ATR version that has these screens patched or the "Super Energy" style jumps on Zone 10 Screen 10 like on the Cartridge ? please post
luckybuck
That is exactly the intention of my post. Will try this with the hints from JAC! as soon as I have time. Thanks.

+JAC!
Hi, this should help Altirra F8: Enter "e bea0 a9" to stop countdown Haven't played the level to the end. Might be that you have to enter "e bea0 c6" to restart countdown when the level ends, so it does not count points until infinity. luckybuck
Hi JAC! Thanks again! :-) You already helped so much, I must go through everything (and will) you already have posted before. But first I would like to save the tapes. The games can be played at any time later. Further, the artifact list #2 must be finished, the assembler and source codes sites. Then the Enterprise in "The Last Starfighter" and then Miner. But with your help above it should go very fast... Wish you a beautiful sunday. All the best. ac.tomo
I'm sure this is one game I did complete, but I can't remember whether the game just ended or restarted at zone 1 level 1, what I do know, though, is that it was definitely 1 of these endings. 'Necromancer' was one game I found difficult. again, I'm unsure whether I completed this one, though, I vaguely think I never did.
luckybuck
Necromancer is simply and can be done without cheating. Miner is under normal conditions not possible as far as I know. Before Miner I will finish "Enterprise" in "The Last Starfighter" Enterprise in the Last_Starfighter The time, things are coming to solution is now... devwebcl
I like to find hard endings as well. regarding to Last Star Fighter easter egg, it seems has a random sequence to achieve it. (from digitpress)
