OldSkoolGamer
I recently came across 30+ what look like Atari 2600 EPROMS. They are black chips with two rows of pins on the back. The chips read Pitfall High; Pitfall Low; Worm War High; Worm War Low etc... Has anyone seen these before? I will post pics when I get home. yllawwally
They are probably bootleg copies of the games. You would need a pcb designed to hold 2 2k chips. If you have a eprom reader you can then run them in an emulator, and compare them to the released versions. What other titles are listed? OldSkoolGamer
Pac-Man Adventure Pinball Lock N Chase Grandprix Worm War Haunted H PitfallWarlords Night Driver Dragster Kaboom Yar's Revenge I think most of the titles were released between 1980-1983
Wickeycolumbus
I think most of the titles were released between 1980-1983 Yeah, these earlier games have ROM sizes of 2KB and 4KB. Anything larger than 4K requires extra hardware on the cartridge and was much harder to pirate. This is why you won't often see any pirate games larger than 4K. In fact, I'm not aware of any examples of them. Edited July 23, 2014 by Wickeycolumbus
OldSkoolGamer
Thanks for the info. Any value other than cool additions to my collection?
chas10e
I wonder if they some kind of prototypes & thread should be moved to that board .... http://atariage.com/forums/forum/36-prototypes/
yllawwally
Do you have an eprom reader? You should probably dump them to make sure they aren't proto's. If they aren't prototypes, then there value is only the value of the hardware, maybe a couple dollars a chip.
OldSkoolGamer
No, I don't have a EPROM reader, how hard are they to get?
yllawwally
You can find one on ebay pretty inexpensively. Where are you located, maybe someone from here is close by, and can dump the chips for you.
