Yes totally!

RF signal is a composite signal, with added FM sound, sent by AM radio waves.

Even on a short distance and by wire, the RF signal get signal losses, is probe to pick up many parasite signals.

A/V separate signal and sound, doesnt use radio AM carrier, which greatly enhance the quality of the video and audio signals.

I rather like the svid cable I have, although I did note a little of the checkerboard issue. It's much more clear. Those cables are good too, though. Anything is better than RF, though.

If you want crazy clear you may go the emulator route with some of the more common classics from the N64.

I thought that was the cable the n64 came with? I was pretty sure I had to buy a mad cats RF back in the day to make my n64 work on the tv I had. Maybe thats my Dreamcast I'm thinking of. Anyway the sweet thing about that cable is that it works on SNES and Game Cube too.

No, the N64 did come with an AV cable, not RF. You have to buy RF units separately. Plenty of people bought them, though, for TVs that didn't have AV inputs. I have several, which I needed back then for our TVs, though they're all junky third-party RFUs that kept dying on me... Edited by A Black Falcon
