ydcl
I just bought this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131272593382?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Does this AV cable make the image any better for my N64 versus the regular RF cable that comes with it? Cheers, Yan
CatPix
Yes totally! RF signal is a composite signal, with added FM sound, sent by AM radio waves. Even on a short distance and by wire, the RF signal get signal losses, is probe to pick up many parasite signals. A/V separate signal and sound, doesnt use radio AM carrier, which greatly enhance the quality of the video and audio signals.
DaytonaUSA
Rf is worthless on any system. Always go with at least composite.
Dripfree
I thought that was the cable the n64 came with? I was pretty sure I had to buy a mad cats RF back in the day to make my n64 work on the tv I had. Maybe thats my Dreamcast I'm thinking of. Anyway the sweet thing about that cable is that it works on SNES and Game Cube too.
ydcl
Ok Thanks, I'm gonna hook it up and try 007 and Zelda again with it when it arrives!
omegadot
I rather like the svid cable I have, although I did note a little of the checkerboard issue. It's much more clear. Those cables are good too, though. Anything is better than RF, though. If you want crazy clear you may go the emulator route with some of the more common classics from the N64. DaytonaUSA
Well if you're really wanting clarity, my rgb nodded n64 is the way to go, but I'm just trying to get him away from rf haha
CatPix
Hah you remind me I gotta find a FRA model to RGB mod it...

Plenty of people bought them, though, for TVs that didn't have AV inputs. I have several, which I needed back then for our TVs, though they're all junky third-party RFUs that kept dying on me...
