tacrec
My next musical release. "Original music" as in music written for a game, not based on another song. I've already made three songs from Stonix music.
First Spear
I have about 10 MODs I'd love to convert out of their Apple IIGS archive and share them with the Intv folks somehow. I think there was work on a tool at http://knox.ac.free.fr/index.php/pc/aytracker that would do the conversion but it is not generally available. bikeguychicago
You could always do what a lot of early arcade games did and recycle public domain music for the game. I don't believe Intellivision has had it's own rendition of 'Oh, Susanna' yet. Edited October 15, 2014 by bikeguychicago

I don't believe Intellivision has had it's own rendition of 'Oh, Susanna' yet. What Arcade games used music that was public domain or songs that were not original and created for the games? I know Gyruss played J. S. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565; and SMB played a old song from the days of my parents when it fort started and during game play but what about all the other games like Pac Man and Donkey Kong also I remember Pengo playing a fimular song I heard before and I think some versions of Pengo played a different song then others. Smurf Rescue on CV used classical music, Fortune Builder as well There was a thread about this in the CV section http://atariage.com/forums/topic/181322-classical-and-other-musics-in-cv-videogames/?hl=%2Bclassical&do=findComment&comment=2287149 Edited October 16, 2014 by retroillucid

Kangaroo and Frogger come to mind off the top of my head. I've heard the subject mentioned during several episodes of the No Quarter podcast but I can't think of any others at the moment. freewheel
Much like the classic Loony Tunes cartoons, the majority (or at least a HUGE chunk) of 80s video games used public domain music in one fashion or another. To this day, when I hear a lot of classical music, my brain flashes back to the first game I heard it in. Arcade, C64, or NES.

Anyone know what song it plays after you destroy the Satan Ship? Most of the homebrews that I have researched do not use truly original music. The "sudden death" theme from Robots was an original tune. The other two tunes intended for SameGame weren't "truly original" though. Since the original post, I've released the following games so far: In Blix & Chocolate Mine, the tune used in each of the two games is original. The released version of FUBAR has original tunes. The prototype that you might have seen on YouTube was using tunes I had commented out that didn't make the cut in the release of SameGame & Robots. All the music in X-Ray & DILLIGAS is original. I wrote them all myself. If you're planning a future release with any of these, let me know. I like what you've done so far.
carlsson
Since we all like competitions, and there seems to be quite a number of musically skilled people here, how about a for-fun competition in the near future in making original music of any genre? Or perhaps on a theme, without it becoming covers. I'm thinking IntyBASIC + Arnauld's tracker would be two of the possible output formats, though of course if anyone has their own ML music routine it would work too.
+intellivotion
off topic? Well, it surely is. And is also a necrobump. I totally forgot about the thread I started ages ago about the non-original music in Intellivision games. I stopped updating it but it can still be useful nonetheless
