InfiniteTape
I ended up using a ac voltage fan as they can run off the same power the old fan did.. and I don't have to jerryrig anything to the 12/5v lines got them at frys https://www.frys.com/product/8726151?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Greg Folks who have gone this route, how did you fit the 120mm fan into place? The original mounting holes are for an 80mm fan.

You can get adaptors to convert between sizes, such as https://www.quietpc.com/x-fan-adaptor.
+OLD CS1
I wound up just using an 80mm fan, specifically one meant to be quiet. I also popped the rubber seal off the end and put a tiny drop of turbine oil in it to help with the longevity. It is nice and quiet and works perfectly. mnbvcxz
Or a kill switch attached to the cover. You could use the 110v wires for that:)
+Vorticon
I personally just took out the entire original PS and simply dropped in an ATX supply as is case and all. Sure it rattles a bit if the PEB is picked up and shaken, but who really does that with that beast anyway? There is plenty of space for air circulation and I have not not had any issues whatsoever. Did you go with the "old way" or remove all the voltage regs and jumper?
Omega-TI
There is another use for the 110VAC fan connections.... Powermaster Project.pdf
+Vorticon
Did you go with the "old way" or remove all the voltage regs and jumper? I kept the 7805 regulators but upgraded most of them to 1A ones given that I have them connected to the PS 12V line and they do get a bit hot.

+Vorticon
so you took out the 12v ones? No I kept them. They work just fine with the 12V supply line even though their output will be closer to 11V which the cards seem to tolerate.
