gozar
I saw an eBay listing for the Omnimon OS upgrade, which had a different default font. In my 800XL I have a Warp 32-in-1 installed, so I'm thinking it would be cool to install a few OSes with different default roms. Any idea what's the easiest way to change the rom in an OS dump? Roydea6
Us a Hex Editor that has cut and paste ability open the Rom with the Hex Editor and highlight the OS section with the Font and Paste the new font... But the new font should have all the existing characters the same as the original..
Kr0tki
Remember to update the OS checksum too, or modify the checksum routine to disable it. It's been described on these forums already, somewhere... Edited January 9, 2015 by Kr0tki
+David_P
Buried in a box somewhere I have a BASIC program I wrote that would take a ROM file, calculate the checksum, and write the new file to disk. Hmm... maybe that would be a good program for someone to write for ABBUC - an OS ROM customizer. Choose options like fast math, fast screen, toggle OPTION on boot, replace character set, add additional modifications to the ROM (ANTIC had a screen dump program, for example...), then the program will put together your new ROM file, together with checksum...
