emkay
But the rest sounds heavy, stable and in tune. It's not a problem , to keep things in tune, if the standard played frequencies are correct. Thanks for your work there...
emkay
This is one of my "special candidates" This time edited in the patch 8 version, for the melodic drums, and the main voice is created to give some sound variations along the long playing sounds...
analmux
I still doubt if the mid range notes (which start around 0:46) will sound better if you change it from PoKey distortion 10 (at 15 kHz) to PoKey distortion 2 (at 1.79 MHz). The solution allows it to drop any offset correction as would be needed using filter . Or were you talking about the basses? Edit: Ahhh... now I get what you mean Sadly, no one else shares this "quality of music played by POKEY" interest... emkay
Hmmm... for something like this edit, RMT patch 8 seems the best solution yet btw... the high sounds at the start tunes the channels to a more predictable channel timing of all four channels. Interresting things happen then

emkay
A "thinkfull" event happened... If someone asks me about outstanding singers of the early 80s, 2 come to my mind: Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. Like it, or not .
emkay
I wonder, if people recognize the quality of the tune. It's real 4 channel and it keeps the mood of the original...
analmux
That's why a 16-bit bass should never have been the standard setting. The 15 kHz mode gives always more possibilities. emkay
Giana .xex ? Thanks. The tune uses more special timings... so I'm not really sure of the sounding on the real thing.... gia8a.xex

IMHO it's a very good tune! I listened to it on Altirra and on real hardware. Both version seem similar. Am I wrong?
emkay
Comparing to the real thing, the Altirra mixer pushes too much distortione into the sounds.

emkay
Some test with the Patch 8 version and the "apokeysnd.dll" ... This is one VBI only. And the snare is build on 1.79MHz
analmux
This is one VBI only. I wonder what exactly helps to raise the quality. - In 50 Hz mode it's clearly audible to hear the high note peaks to start the filter reset - Then it takes another 1/50 second to control the filter offset - The offset note interferes far more with the whole instrument note settings If I'm right, this shows that the 50 Hz mode Always sound worse with respect to the 100 Hz mode. Also the 200 Hz mode, and so on. The correct usage of filter reset & offset should sound excellent. A bypass would be the solution.
Wrathchild
Just thinking out loud... Would the NES FamiTracker framework make a good staring point for engineering a replacement / update to RMT?
