maiki
I was wondering the other day: Is there any recommended game or test program that could be used to calibrate TV screen geometry? I know many games use different timing and different screen layout... so it is not easy to determine the ideal general screen settings. But perhaps someone has done some research and found "the most representative" game/ROM to be used for TV screen geometry setting?
Rybags
2600 maybe not the best system to setup stuff like that. Games tend not to have borders making it hard to judge, and there's variation in # of scanlines which can cause confusion too. Probably better off using another old computer or console. +cvga
You need the "Color Bar Generator" cart. Unfortunately it's very rare and therefore expensive.
moonDungeon
There are plenty of test patterns that you can use for calibration. What type of TV do you have? What inputs are there? Do you have any way to hook it up to a computer or a PS3? If you can hook up a device which connects to the net (or have a web browser built into the TV, you future person you), visit any of these pages to help calibrate your settings: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ http://www.displaycalibration.com/ http://epaperpress.com/monitorcal/index.html If you can hook up a computer, you could always run the Nokia Monitor Test program: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/Nokia-Monitor-Test.shtml
maiki
I am aware of that test pattern program. I have Harmony cartirdge so no problem running anything. I want to set geometry specifically for my 2600 so I need a 2600 program.
