Paul Westphal
Geezuz! If this is a real demo on real hardware, make a tune for it, and make it happen! My ultimate 1mb awaits!
popmilo
Can't get this out of my head Awesome!
+Larry
This is the best "demo" I've seen in years. Any thoughts as to how it was done? Several of the games look like they are from other systems. (?) -Larry
emkay
This is just a video. Well, nicely done, but just a video
Mclaneinc
Yes, not Atari real but a video but I love it...Brilliant thought pattern.... Lovely mix of MOSTLY Atari games... Not a rock music lover but it went well...
+Larry
Yes, a video, but still, how does anyone think it is actually done? Take actual clips of video games and then overlay the Karateka character and time his jumps to coincide with the scrolling events on the game clips? Really impressive, however it was done! And the interaction of some of the events like the International Karate segment! -Larry
kiwilove
Perhaps the Dropzone segment provides some clue as to how it was done? Seeing it is the weakest/poorest segment as such. I do have an idea for the best demo to date - partly inspired by the AstroChase reward animation - but it involves time and effort I don't have at the moment - plus a programmer who has the same... maybe I could throw it out there - and let someone else take it on? Goochman
It looks to me that they used real video games as a backdrop (many Atari versions) and the player and other parts which 'interact' were the animated portions overlaid on to the gameplay backdrop. +Larry
Can anyone name the unknown game clips presented (and maybe the systems)? #1 (castle ruins + green monsters) ? #2 Moon Patrol #3 (desolate landscape that is reminiscent of Star Wars) ? #4 Montezuma's Revenge #5 Dropzone #6 Araknoid? #7 International Karate #8 (Spooky graveyard) ? #9 Dune #10 E.T. #11 Karateka #12 (floating monster) ? -Larry
8BIT 1337
That was awesome! That's really all I have to say.
Rybags
#3 is Another World, a huge game at the time on Amiga, ST and various other systems of the time. Released in the US as "Out of this World". It's also been reincarnated for modern systems. Written by Eric Chachi, who later produced Heart of Darkness in similar style on the PS1. #8 looks a lot like Ghosts & Goblins though there were various unauthorised clones made on home systems. #12 no idea. RAM
I recognised the floor bit at the start from Cavernia, and trees a bit later on from Black Lamp.

Rybags
I had a feeling about Bruce Lee - but in the actual game the boss doesn't move, he's incorporated into the building. Edited July 15, 2015 by Rybags
