Trooper Galactus
KasumiNinjaLogo.png (Ga-lac-tus. Ga-lac-tus. Ga-lac-tus. Ga-lac-tus. I'll get it right some day.) LOL! It's all good, dude! By the by, was that clip from the one audio submission M.C. Chris? Hard to mistake that voice, but I don't remember what it's from. Guess I'll need to delve into my Sealab 2021 archive... Jagosaurus
Great job Shinto. I haven't been commenting lately, but I've been listening via Stitcher. The history of AvP was extremely interesting! I am a big Doom & Wolf 3D fan but I also like immersive RPGS so I did "get" what they were going for & I think they nailed it! After listening to that podcast, the following week I watched Predator, Alien, & Aliens! Re: your fried laptop LAN port. Watch patching in your PC in conference rooms. The wall jacks are often a different pin out going back to a POE swotch port. Many IP polycom conference phones use a priority pin out pushing power over a different pair. Had a customer fry $2K in equipment recently this way!:/ I'll have a lot to add for Wolf 3D episode Edited February 22, 2016 by Jagosaurus
Trooper Galactus
Submitted my thoughts on Kasumi Ninja a couple days ago. It was not fun.
Shinto
Episode 10 for Kasumi Ninja is now available. The blog entry is here, and the direct episode link is here. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take a brief hiatus before episode 11. Long story short, I have a large stack of medical bills, and have lined up some freelance software development work to help pay them down. I lack the bandwidth to handle both the extra work plus the podcast, so my plan is to code code code, get that done, and then get back into the podcast swing of things. Thank you for listening!
RJ
I thought the room with lions & the yin-yang floor symbol DID make the game. Isnt it Chagi's combat zone (shown in this thread's post #135) IIRR I've seen the lions in the game. Liked the end song, & Storytime tells just what you go thru to get this podcast done for us: taking off work (wow) & 3AM recording sessions (my Corgis wake me up then too!) Please take as much time to deal with Real Life whenev you need to do so. & yes, last May when I sold my entire Jaguar collection, I contemplated keeping that headband. Shinto
Thanks, RJ! The room in the ECTS version had three rows of lions off in the distance, and not much decoration beyond that. Some of those assets, I believe, made it into Chagi's stage. Ah, Corgis. My late grandmother (whom I mentioned in episode 1) had Corgis almost the entire time she lived in the States. Fun dogs. Jagosaurus
Shinto, First, hope everything is good with yourself and the family, everyone healthy. Here is a video I enjoy of Carmack discussing development of Wolf 3D & also praising the Jag port. Hope it is helpful for the W3D episode. A lot of relevant info for your history section as it relates to the Jag port. ---- Wolf 3D Commentary with John Carmack Relevant time stamps: 10:30: Jag version could reach 60fps in spots when PC couldn't 14:00 Lives in W3D later ditched 18:30: Fun playing Jag version 19:40 "Jaguar version was probably my favorite" quote by John & shoulder buttons for strafe (incorrectly?) mentioned. Makes me wonder if devs this early knew of upcoming pro controller.

Serblander
After recently discovering this thread, i listened to the Obligatory Introduction Episode 00 and finishing that, instantly started up on Episode 1. I can honestly say i loved it right from the get go with the (Rad?) catchy intro tune and I can't wait for more! The only thing i'm disappointed with is that i'm a little late to the party, as my strongest memories and experience to share came from my initial purchases in Jan of '95 when i bought my new Jag (with Cybermorph) along with three extra games: AvP, Kasumi Ninja and Tempest 2000, followed shortly by Checkered Flag. These i had for years and played the most before discovering eBay around 2000, but i see all have already been covered. In any case, i look forward to hearing all about them from other people's experiences and learn new things along our entwined Jaguar journey. Shinto's Podcast has given me an excuse to go through my library game-by-game and give each their due in turn. Some I've never played before, so it gives me motivation to grab them off the shelf and try them out. I have way too many PS3 games to catch up on to ever play Jaguar regularly, but it's been a nice diversion from modern systems, even if half the games absolutely suck. Schmudde
Shinto, There is no way we should leave that easter egg at the end of your Kasumi Ninja podcast so well hidden. Any chance of posting that separately? It's really hilarious and well done. /ü

You told me once on the ThumbPad Podcast forum that one can never be too late to a good party. It does explain why you didn't answer the question I asked you in the Club Drive episode. Regardless of when you started listening, there's no statute of limitations on feedback, so I'd love to hear your memories of the games I've already covered.

I did happen to save it off as a separate MP3, and now I've just attached it to the blog entry for that episode, inside the spoiler section at the bottom where I explain the story behind it. Your memory is a 64-Bit juggernaut compared to my measly 16-bits of recall power! I've just finished the Trevor McFur episode and I'm confident, albeit a tad sad, that i will catch up to the latest episode in no time. I will then start to happily contribute to posed questions past, present, and future. Oh, and no flagrant lack of Oxford commas here! Shinto
Thank you for your patience, everyone; I've finished with my freelance project (well, one of them), and now I'm gearing up for the next episode, which is Bubsy in: Fractured Furry Tales! On the No-Swear Gamer Scale, how would you rate this game? 1) Hall of Fame Game (top 5 on the Jaguar)2) Solid Game3) "Meh" Game4) Trash Game (bottom 5 on the Jaguar) You may leave feedback here in this thread, with an AtariAge PM, or by sending a text or audio submission to jaguar@gamebygamepodcast.com. Please have your feedback in by Thursday, May 5th to make sure it gets into the show. Thanks!

doctorclu
Well so far I have a recorded interview with Faran Thomason who was the director of the Jaguar Bubsy game. Some good information that is going through editing.
Trooper Galactus
I'm actually thankful there's been so much time elapsed between podcasts...needed some time to get over playing Kasumi Ninja.
doctorclu
Currently editing the interviews with Michael Berlyn and Faran Thomason, but here what I learned from both as it pertains to the Jaguar game of Bubsy: There have been four unique games commercially released for Bubsy and those are: Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind. Bubsy II Bubsy Fractured Furry Tales Bubsy 3D Furbitten Planet In the Bubsy Franchise the Jaguar version is considered to be the second best by fans. It is interesting when you consider that... Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind. - Had Michael Berlyn and the creative heart on board. Naturally was the best and did great in sales. The game saved Accolade from near bankrupcy. Bubsy II - Michael Berlyn was not on board and the producer hated Bubsy as a character. And the lackluster game shows. Bubsy 3D Furbitten Planet - Had Michael Berlyn back on board. They put a lot of heart into the game, and even an inventive approach to make the game 3D. Actually sold pretty good, but their version of 3D controls and camera angles became almost immediately dated. So what I think is interesting about Bubsy Fractured Furry Tales is that first of it was meant to one of many quick ports from Genesis code that Atari got from Accolade. They were not Bubsy fans. They didn't even know that the exclamation mark on his shirt was the wrong color. But what they did decide was since the first Bubsy game was already a year old with Bubsy 2 being developed as the Jaguar game was being developed, why not make a new game? This is amazing to me. They went the extra mile to create new levels, new enemies, and new music and so on with the exception of Bubsy himself and the underlining game engine. So while not Bubsy fans per se, they cared enough to make a good unique game, and they did this without any of the original creative talent or programmers for the game programming. They managed to keep a good lot of the fun and spirit of the Bubsy character, and some would say better music, and I am impressed by that.
Trooper Galactus
Bubsy 3D was, from most of what I've seen and read, one of the single worst games ever made. Saying it was merely "dated" is probably the highest praise I've ever seen assigned to it.
+jeremiahjt
Solid game. I really do enjoy it. I have beaten every level in the game, all but one multiple times. I tried to beat every level in one go one time after I had first beat the game using the codes to pick up where I left off. I threw about 40 Bubsies at that mother f*+?#@% lobster boss and still could not get past him. I guess the one time I beat him was luck. I can also clear the first whole section of enemies without touching the ground. I think it is around 13 enemies or so. Doctorclu is the only other person I know who can do that. In conclusion, fun game that I think does not deserve the hate it gets. Although I understand where it comes from.
