Altirra 2.6 XBox 360 Controller 5200 Mode

Is there a simple way to get the controller to work in the 5200 mode? XL/XE mode works just fine.

You need to go to Input > Input Mappings... in the menu and create a new input map for it with a 5200 controller. Map Axis 1 to Left stick horiz. and Axis 2 to Left stick vert. This needs to be done manually, as if you try using Rebind or using the sticks in the Edit Mapping dialog, it'll try to bind the directional versions of the sticks instead and you'll only get the hard 8 directions.

 

The Up/Down/Left/Right entries are for digital control of the stick. They can either be mapped to the D-pad directions if you want, or you can leave them unbound and use the D-pad for something else.

 

There aren't enough buttons on the Xbox 360 controller for the keypad, so you'll need to bind those to the keyboard. Just select the first entry, click Rebind, hit the keys you want for each entry, and then Stop. It's possible to configure some of the controller buttons as shifters to flip the modes of other buttons, but it's best not to try that until you're familiar with the general way that input maps work.

Afterward, make sure that the new input map you created is checked (enabled) and that the rest are turned off.
