Schitti
I don’t think it’s adequate enough to vote Albert into the Atari 2600 Hall of Fame, especially now after all these years that the poll has existed. The act would not be a true representation of his value to the community. In my eyes, Albert should have the title ‘Grand Champion’ of The AtariAge Hall of Fame, and not merely the Atari 2600 Hall of Fame. He has enabled us everything here at Atariage and because of this we are a really strong community today. Each day I come to this site and log in I appreciate Alberts work. Thanks for that.Create an Albert ‘Thank you Thread’ if you want, so he can read the endearing posts anytime he wants, instead of decorating him with a title that fades after one year. my votes in alphabetical order: Atarinut76 - great collection and helpful guy Nofrills100 - he's a enrichment for the community and for his vcart collection (without him not so many carts would have been discovered) Pangasinan - for his really cool PAL collection Philflound - for his archiving work and his helpfulness with other projects sad to see, that not all past HOF winners have time to vote here. and last but not least the unwritten HOF Law -> Do not vote for yourself. Schitti
The annual 2600 Hall of Fame vote is now open. . . . I'm going to set the closing date for votes on the last day of this month. nofrills100
(Sorry - I've been out of town) Bamm! Albert by a long shot! No need to go into what it is that he has 'contributed' to the Atari community - it's practically HIS community! We have all been appreciating his contribution from the get go - and in that regard he kind of transcends hall of fame status, but with the 2600 HOF broadening beyond solely collectors, it was inevitable that he would be amongst the first non collectors to join the list. Rom Hunter
Hats off to Albert. Without AtariAge I wouldn't have entered this hobby at all.

+wongojack
Every hall of fame with any history behind it evolves to include a broader set of contributors. Some of whom are more influential than the original inductees. I think including Albert simply reflects the current state of Atariage where so many new collectors have come into the hobby without significant experience before discovering the site. His time to be recognized likely came long ago, but the mechanism to actually show that recognition was only ready this year.
+bfstats
Congrats to Albert. Well deserved for perpetuating The Classic Gaming Community in countless ways! And here's a nod to Alex Bilstein who founded the site (Atari 2600 Nexus).
Albert
Wow, thanks guys, I wasn't expecting this. My collection surely pales in comparison to some of the heavyweights in this hobby, although I do have a very large number of games spread across a ton of systems. But not a large "boxed" games collection, as I was always going after loose games and manuals so I could more easily store and play them. The carts are all neatly organized into bins by system, and alphabetized within each bin. I also have bins full of loose manuals, with each manual in a separate "novel" bag and comic backing board (cut to the appropriate size, usually 5" x 7"). I also have a huge amount of hardware--tons of systems, controllers, and peripherals, spanning just about every console and computer up through the NES (and beyond, as I pretty much own most "popular" consoles beyond the NES as well). I understand you've loosened the requirements for this Hall of Fame vote, but figured I'd describe my collection a bit. My collecting did slow down considerably once I started working on AtariAge with Alex back in 2000. Damn, fifteen years! Can't believe it's been that long. I'm glad that people enjoy using the site, and the forums in particular have been used by many thousands of people over the years. It's interesting to see how many people are still around since the site's inception. I was looking through a thread from 2001 a few days ago, and about half the people who posted in the thread are still active, which is more than I expected, really. Alright, must get back to work, I am busting my ass getting ready for the Portland Retro Gaming Expo next weekend!!! Thanks again, I do appreciate it. ..Al

Zwackery
I know this thread is a few months old, but I'd like to say thanks to the folks who threw my name into the ring. Right about the time the vote this year was happening, I went in for some routine knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Well, it was a bit more complicated than had been anticipated, and then my liver went haywire due to the meds I was on, and then my right retina developed a bubble because of the stress my body was under, and long story short, what was supposed to be a 2 week recovery has now entered its seventh week and counting. I seem to be getting better thankfully. Anyhow, again, thanks for being remembered. I am keeping the Atari spirit alive with my gaming students. We actually have two 2600s in the game lab now and a small (20 titles) library of carts. In one class we screened the E.T. documentary and then I had them play E.T., and they all agreed it was actually not bad and kind of interesting given when it was made and how short the dev cycle was. Then I had them play Fire Fly to see what a "bad" Atari game is like.
fabman99
Am i missing some years or did we just not have any HOF votes since 2015?
