carlsson
This week I will introduce CP/M as a system in the tracker, as yesterday I found the settings to play Ladder on my N8VEM SBC. I noticed there have been two TRS-80 Model 1 and one Model III game listed previously, but I understand those have graphics and likely run under TRSDOS rather than CP/M.
karokoenig
Atari 2600 Elevators Amiss: 49 min PC (Windows 95) Grim Fandango: 187 min Elevators Amiss is a fine little homebrew, very simple in concept, but with fun gameplay. In Grim Fandango, I hate to admit that I had to consult a walkthrough for one particular puzzle. After reading the solution (and only that one), I remembered that this one gave me severe headaches on my first playthrough as well. Not a flawless run anymore, but what the hell. I don't mind a hard nut to crack, but I'm too old to get stuck for weeks on a game, and I want to enjoy the storyline. As far as I can remember, the rest of the puzzles till the end won't pose any huge problems.

Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for this past week (May 9th through 15th)... Arcade: Turtles - 215 min. in 5 sessions Commodore 64: Dino Eggs - 29 min. This week I didn't play too many different games. I revisitied "Turtles", and in the 5th session I managed to beat it (get to the roof). Then I read the blog of Mr. Schroeder, author of "Crisis Mountain", "Dino Eggs" and "Short Circuit" (not the movie tie-in), and decided to replay "Dino Eggs". On the single game I played, I got to Level 9, the last level, but couldn't complete it.

Oddly, I found myself playing Aladdin more than the rest. I think it's held up well. Lynx Rygar is the right combination of hard and yet still seems attainable. I'm going to try and get through it. No continues makes it tough but that's the point. One more mission down in Rogue Squadron, but it was kind of an ugly one. My time with the RS games may be slowing down.
Skippy B. Coyote
After two weeks of bad timing and finding myself unable to write a proper weekly report, I'm back with a good one this week! Ineligible Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS) - 180 minutes Ghost Squad (Nintendo Wii) - 120 minutes The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo Wii) - 480 minutes Link's Crossbow Training (Nintendo Wii) - 34 minutes Need for Speed: Nitro (Nintendo Wii) - 42 minutes The Pinball Arcade (Android) - 121 minutes Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (Nintendo Wii) - 157 minutes Game Boy Color The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - 114 minutes Sega Genesis Streets of Rage 2 - 52 minutes Sega Master System Mortal Kombat - 95 minutes Mortal Kombat II - 6 minutes Sonic the Hedgehog - 30 minutes Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - 11 minutes Street Fighter II' - 33 minutes Super Nintendo Kirby Super Star - 39 minutes Total Play Time This Week 1,514 minutes (25 hours 14 minutes) [380 minutes eligible] Individual System Play Times This Week Nintendo Wii: 833 minutes Nintendo DS: 180 minutes Sega Master System: 175 minutes Android: 121 minutes Game Boy Color: 114 minutes Sega Genesis: 52 minutes Super Nintendo: 39 minutes In spite of being horrendously sick with the worst head cold I've had in years this week, I still managed to get quite a bit of gaming done on my new favorite "all in one gaming device"; AKA the Nintendo Wii. The bulk of my gaming time was consumed by starting my journey through the strikingly beautiful The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess once again for the first time since it's initial release over a decade ago, and since it had been so long since I last played it I had actually forgotten all the dungeons and puzzles so it really felt like a new game to me. I remembered that I really enjoyed the game, and I definitely recalled a few key story elements, but I remembered nothing of the gameplay itself so in a lot of ways it's been like playing Twilight Princess for the first time this week. Zelda aside, I also spent quite a bit of time playing some arcade ports and arcade style games on the Wii and put it's emulation capabilities to good use with the Classic Controller to explore the Sega Master System library (and the Genesis classic Streets of Rage 2) for the first time. Since I've been laid out with a cold for the past 5 days or so I decided to make it my mission to use the downtime to research and collect the ROMs for every popular and well reviewed Sega Master System and Super Nintendo Game, to further expand on our Wii's already fairly enormous emulation center. I'm not a big SNES fan myself so that part was mostly for the misses, but I have been absolutely enthralled by the Master System ever since I first started exploring it earlier this week. I can definitely see why it outsold and effectively beat the NES during the 8-Bit era in every region other than the US and Japan, because the graphics and gameplay options on this system are just astounding! I can't even begin to imagine any version of Mortal Kombat or Mortal Kombat II running well on the NES, and yet the Master System handles them both very nicely and they're quite enjoyable to play. I would recommend passing on Street Fighter II' though, since while the graphics do look great an error in the programming makes it almost impossible to pull off special moves with any degree of consistency. All things considered, so far my initial impressions of the Master System are that it feels very much like a 12-Bit system; in that it's graphical capabilities definitely exceed the other 8-Bit contenders by no small margin but it isn't quite a match for the graphics and processing abilities of a 16-Bit system. It's a very unique and wonderful little machine that I'm really enjoying a lot! The more I play it via emulation the more I can see myself eventually picking up a real model 1 Master System complete with Light Phaser and 3-D glasses and start collecting for it. The only thing that's really stopping me from jumping in feet first at this point is the $100'ish price point of the console and the fact that many of the games I'd like to own for it are European imports in the $30 to $50 range, which is quite expensive for my budget. Ah well, in the meantime I've still got a well curated library of what is currently (after all my research this week) 174 different Master System games that I can emulate perfectly well on my Wii. Now I just need to get one of those Sega/Atari to GameCube controller adapters from Raphnet Technologies so I can start playing my Master System games with an authentic controller, though the Wii's Classic Controller has been working just fine and has been very comfortable in the meantime. As far as the misses' gaming time this week goes, she spent a couple hours finishing off The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for the Game Boy Color (using her fancy new custom Mad Catz Tatsunoko vs Capcom arcade stick controller to play it on the Wii) and then started in on Kirby Super Star for the SNES on the Wii after she had completed Zelda. She also spent a bit of time playing Mortal Kombat for the Master System with me, and it looks like she'll be giving the Master System version of Sonic 2 a go in the very near future. That said, I think it's time to wrap up this post so I can go watch her play! That's all the news from around here for this week! BurritoBeans
Game.com Centipede - 50 minutes NES: 8 Eyes - 25 minutes Nothing much to add in, as I've been doing other stuff. With Uncharted 4 and the new DOOM out I've played those through so that sucked up a bit of time. The Game.com got pulled out for Centipede, and I dunno why, but I lost everything for the system - maybe I've been playing too much other stuff, but I couldn't stand Centipede which I liked a good bit for much time before I had to drop it. 8 Eyes got played on the NES, and I still can't figure that game out so yeah, going to probably not touch it for a bit. My times in general may start dropping low, got finals and state tests for school, and family stuff is popping up that's stressing me out. Nothing else, so that's all.
+thegoldenband
Here's the summary for Week 20, running from May 9 - 15. We logged 3610 minutes of eligible play, playing 76 games on a total of 21 systems. Top 10: 1. Kaboom (Atari 2600) - 243 2. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - 220 3. Turtles (Arcade) - 215 4. Pokemon Yellow (Game Boy) - 201 5. Rygar (Atari Lynx) - 197 6. Grim Fandango (PC (Windows 95/98)) - 187 7. Mega Man X (SNES) - 180 8. Pac-Man (Atari 2600) - 160 9. Chester Cheetah: Wild Wild Quest (SNES) - 139 10. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (Game Boy Color) - 114 Pre-NES top 10: 1. Kaboom (Atari 2600) - 243 2. Turtles (Arcade) - 215 3. Pac-Man (Atari 2600) - 160 4. Pac-Man (Arcade) - 66 5. Ladder (CP/M) - 64 6. Berzerk (Vectrex) - 60 7. Elevators Amiss (Atari 2600) - 49 8. Guardian (TI-99/4A) - 40 9. Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade) - 39 10. Pac-Man Collection (Atari 7800) - 32 Top 10 systems: 1. SNES (1069) 2. Arcade (508) 3. Atari 2600 (467) 4. Game Boy (268) 5. Atari Lynx (197) 6. PC (Windows 95/98) (187) 7. Sega Master System (175) 8. Vectrex (120) 9. Game Boy Color (114) 10. N64 (79) No big numbers this week, but a very evenly matched Top 10, with just over a 2:1 ratio separating our #1 game Kaboom from our #10. However it's another story on the system charts, where the SNES takes #1 by a huge margin, thanks to 22 different games logged! That's only one more than the total number of systems logged in a very diverse week. Speaking of diversity, the operating system CP/M just misses the top 10 in its first appearance, with 73 minutes logged, but makes it onto the pre-NES top 10 with Ladder at #5.
