Christophero Sly
I have a few of these. Never really liked them. Actually, I've never really liked any third-party 2600 stick.
GameGirl420
I have a few, Gemstik controllers rule Have one connected to my main 2600 atm. My fave controller for playing Q*Bert! Love to use them whenever my remote control joystick runs out of batteries especially.
Christophero Sly
Has anyone ever used the paddle controllers made by this company (Gemini)? I may not be wild about their Gemstick controller, but their paddle controller is the best I've ever used; zero jitter.
Schizophretard
Well the way it is normally is that the button is on the left. But I move the stick with my left hand and can't with my right hand. So its hard to press the button with my right hand. Be cool if it was button on the right side. Move stick with left hand and press button with my right hand. That's why I like my archer stick. Button is in the handle also so I can do it one handed. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lefty-Joystick-Adaptor-for-Atari-Type-Joystick-Controllers-BRAND-NEW-SEALED-/351684964660?hash=item51e20eb134:g:McgAAOSwQjNW8vYN Anyway, the Gemstik is the first controller I ever held and I prefer it over the CX-40. 0078265317
Found them here but never ordered from them before. http://www.iec-usa.com/cgi-bin/iec/L4140
agb
I've had two for some time now. They work well but not as good as the original Atari 2600 joysticks.
Lynxpro
Is $3 a fair price for one? I passed on one at a local Goodwill for that price. They also had a Coleco Telstar - 4? - with a box but it was missing its power supply and I was in too much of a hurry to ask what their price was. Since we're talking about a Gemstik, has anyone added microswitches to one before?
accousticguitar
Is $3 a fair price for one? I passed on one at a local Goodwill for that price. That's a good price if it works. You probably couldn't even ship it for that price if you bought one off ebay.
+Random Terrain
Just saw this joystick in an old magazine article: archive.org/stream/Video_Games_Volume_2_Number_02_1983-11_Pumpkin_Press_US#page/n33/mode/1up
Andromeda Stardust
I found a GameXChange in the next town that had about four Gemstiks. They felt nice (I busted the shrink wrap on one of them) but since I play joysticks built with real arcade parts, none of the bitd 1st or 3rd party sticks will feel as good as a real arcade control. I passed on them but wanted to check and see if they were worth much. They were $3.95 each.
danny_galaga
I haver a broken Gemstick. Why broken? Because I broke it! Gave me rage, I now just use my own microswitch joystick or a gamepad. Now no rage (",)
bradhig1
Did Gemini Industries Inc make any other video game stuff besides the Gemstik?
King Atari
Did Gemini Industries Inc make any other video game stuff besides the Gemstik? Blank VHS tapes.
bradhig1
Just got today at Vintage Stock Right and Up directions didn't work at first. I opened it up and moved the white ring around. Now it works fine. The silver is long gone from the word Gemstik.
+RichG1972
I like my GemStick, but a rebuilt CX-40 with best gold contacts rocks. Actually the CX-40 gold boards CAN be used with the Gemsticks
+RichG1972
Yes - we currently have 5 Discwasher PointMaster Competition joysticks in stock. Banquo
I bought a pair of these last week and they arrived today. I was really looking forward to trying them out but as soon as I took them out of the box they sounded like maracas, full of broken plastic. I love buying supposedly good stuff and getting trash in the mail. The contact points at the bottom of the shafts are all broken to pieces, looks like a really flimsy and cheap design. I tried a spare CX-40 shaft I had but it doesn't fit. Shame because they feel comfortable but I wouldn't buy one again, very poor quality. I'll stay with joysticks like the TAC-2 from now on. Banquo
Any chance of posting photos of the damage? I'm afraid I already threw them out. The plastic ring at the bottom of the shaft that pressed on the contacts is what was all broken up. The plastic was very brittle, age I guess.
