TPA5
I am typing this post on my Atari 400 via Bank Street Writer, which I transferred via my DIY SIO2PC cable. It's pretty hackright now, held on by electrical tape with wires that have justbeen twisted around the ports on the FTDI chip. I am waiting for header pins to come in the mail so I can solder them to the FTDI and do it proper, however I was too impatient to wait ontesting it out! In all I am really happy with it, being able to send programs to my 400 and save output from it is absolutelyfantastic, as I no longer have to fear degrading physical media. So yeah, typed that up on my Atari 400 and sent it to my PC via the printer emulation in the RespeQt software. Really happy with how my little test turned out, worked flawlessly. I just need to solder up some actual header pins when they come in and put it in a tidy enclosure to make it complete. I've already started to use it to do some writing, it's a great way to write distraction-free! Just wanted to share my little success with you all.
Sub(Function(:))
Have you seen these: TTL-232R-5V-WE http://www.amazon.co.uk/Usb-TTL-Cable-TTL-232R-5V-WE-Compatible/dp/B007204T44/ref=pd_sim_23_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=41Qfr21egXL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=1JVW0Z29Z1X9E4AQRCDR looks like you can solder a SIO plug, and you have one neat solution. Beware there are some that are cheaper but they only seem to have RX/TX pair (No Handshake lines)
