Do you actually LIKE the porn games?

Agreed. Some of them are graphically impressive for the time, for example the sprites are extremely large in Custer's Revenge, and the controversy surrounding that one makes it the most unique.

But I agree that X-man has the most play value, and also the best graphics.

Love X Man, me and my wife played it for hours. Even if the sound's a bit grating at first, it's a decent maze game. It's also a bit of a joystick killer like Decathlon, but there's more to it. You gotta get the rhythm right. One of my favourite Atari games.

Beat 'em & eat 'em is great too. I love the story on the back of the box...'make his soda pop'.....classic.

Lately I've been making a point to try out a few games on the Harmony that I never played before. The other day I was in the H's and tried Harem: http://atariage.com/software_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=2793

I wasn't expecting much, but it was surprisingly ambitious, with different challenges between the 'explicit' parts. Unfortunately it wasn't that fun to play, but I was actually impressed they put that much thought into it.

I only ever played Custer's Revenge and kind of hate to admit that yeah seeing a dozen or so monochromatic pixel blocks going at it was surprisingly interesting. But I managed to always keep both hands on the Atari joystick at all times. I was a lot younger then.

It would be kind of funny to create a modern porn web site of just animated sprites of the same resolution doing whatever people could dream up. That's now on my todo list.

A good game is good regardless of the graphics chosen to depict it. Most of the "porn" games are decent games at worst, even if the subject matter was at one time controversial.

Heck, I still use this mindset to this day....I always find it funny to see those "best games ever" things in new mags, and how many are only there due to being pretty with little play value.

I think the ones that come--phrasing!--the closest to being good games are Bachelor Party (or Bachelorette Party, for any ladies here) and Gigolo, which is the same game as Cathouse Blues but with genders reversed and better sex scenes. Knight On The Town is okay, too, even though it looks like a couple of demented Dr. Seuss characters in heat.

Speaking of Gigolo, the title doesn't really make sense for that game. It must be a reference to the man-whores you try to find in the game, but gigolos aren't prostitutes. (Okay, they sort of are, but they're gold-digging trophy boy-toy/one-customer prostitutes, not sell-my-junk-in-a-house-of-ill-repute/crank-off-for-creepy-dudes-in-the-alley-behind-Wendy's prostitutes.)

Custer's Revenge and Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em are cult classics in their own right, but they're pretty shit games.

Gigolo is probably among the only Atari porn games that's slightly hot.

And I think Beat em and Eat em actually kinda did something better than Kaboom in that the size of your paddles doesn't decrease when you fail.

Also speaking of them not being porn/erotic, I think the fact that they're openly shown in Youtube videos, retro-gaming books, and an avatar here on AtariAge forums pretty much supports this.

Yes, I like Custer's Revenge.

The reason is that I heard a review about this game on a German radio station. It must have been in 1984.

The review said that it has an absolute unacceptable game play.

It took me 25 years when I played this game for the first time. OK, its game play is really simple, but in 21st century it's harmless.

A little bit political incorrect.

Custer's Revenge and Beat 'em are pretty dang hilareous. I own both CIB. Never did pick up Bachelor Party though. Custer's is definitely politically incorrect for numerous reasons, though Beat 'em is the better playing title. In fact, a bloke on nintendoage ported Beat 'em over to NES and it is available at RetroUSB.com :P
