Syzygy1
I do, because they're silly and primitive and there's no way they can be considered porn anymore. It even looks like they're dancing at some points (they lampshaded that in the Custer's Revenge manual).
Keatah
I used to when I was a kid, but as grups some of them are rather cliche and tacky. Even cute in a "My Little Pony" way.
Chuck D. Head
As an aficionado of all forms of "inappropriata", I get a kick out of these games based on the taste of my inner ten-year-old, but the gameplay just isn't there. The only one I enjoy as a game is X-Man, and it also happens to be the most "graphic" in my opinion.
Supergun
Agreed. Some of them are graphically impressive for the time, for example the sprites are extremely large in Custer's Revenge, and the controversy surrounding that one makes it the most unique. But I agree that X-man has the most play value, and also the best graphics.
J.Ivy
I have never played any, but I want too Like others have said, theyre no longer "porn", theyre just novelty now.
Hannacek
If you just look at the gameplay, they are not the best Atari games, but they are also far from the worst.
+KaeruYojimbo
Beat 'Em & Eat 'Em is a decent Kaboom knockoff and I kind of like Cathouse Blues, but none of them have enough going on gameplay-wise to hold my attention for very long. They're good for the occasional laugh, but that's about it.
high voltage
Love X Man, me and my wife played it for hours. Even if the sound's a bit grating at first, it's a decent maze game. It's also a bit of a joystick killer like Decathlon, but there's more to it. You gotta get the rhythm right. One of my favourite Atari games. Beat 'em & eat 'em is great too. I love the story on the back of the box...'make his soda pop'.....classic. Edited April 13, 2016 by high voltage
Syzygy1
I'm pretty good at Beat Em and Eat Em. I'm also good at the game it rips off, Kaboom. Although when I first saw it on AVGN, I couldn't eat ice cream for a while (the box art shows someone eating ice cream)
williamc
Lately I've been making a point to try out a few games on the Harmony that I never played before. The other day I was in the H's and tried Harem: http://atariage.com/software_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=2793 I wasn't expecting much, but it was surprisingly ambitious, with different challenges between the 'explicit' parts. Unfortunately it wasn't that fun to play, but I was actually impressed they put that much thought into it.
Jinroh
I second this, when I found Harem I too was surprised. Definitely my favorite of the Porn games. A pretty neat adventure.
imstarryeyed
I didn't like any of them, I thought the actual gameplay was weak. I don't think I would own any myself personally, but I have sold one or two at my store here.
DanOliver
I only ever played Custer's Revenge and kind of hate to admit that yeah seeing a dozen or so monochromatic pixel blocks going at it was surprisingly interesting. But I managed to always keep both hands on the Atari joystick at all times. I was a lot younger then. It would be kind of funny to create a modern porn web site of just animated sprites of the same resolution doing whatever people could dream up. That's now on my todo list. Shawn
Beat'em and Eat'em is pretty fun. X-man is ok. The rest are kinda crap IMO.
Video
A good game is good regardless of the graphics chosen to depict it. Most of the "porn" games are decent games at worst, even if the subject matter was at one time controversial. Heck, I still use this mindset to this day....I always find it funny to see those "best games ever" things in new mags, and how many are only there due to being pretty with little play value. BassGuitari
I think the ones that come--phrasing!--the closest to being good games are Bachelor Party (or Bachelorette Party, for any ladies here) and Gigolo, which is the same game as Cathouse Blues but with genders reversed and better sex scenes. Knight On The Town is okay, too, even though it looks like a couple of demented Dr. Seuss characters in heat.Speaking of Gigolo, the title doesn't really make sense for that game. It must be a reference to the man-whores you try to find in the game, but gigolos aren't prostitutes. (Okay, they sort of are, but they're gold-digging trophy boy-toy/one-customer prostitutes, not sell-my-junk-in-a-house-of-ill-repute/crank-off-for-creepy-dudes-in-the-alley-behind-Wendy's prostitutes.)Custer's Revenge and Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em are cult classics in their own right, but they're pretty shit games. Tangentg
Gigolo is probably among the only Atari porn games that's slightly hot. And I think Beat em and Eat em actually kinda did something better than Kaboom in that the size of your paddles doesn't decrease when you fail. Also speaking of them not being porn/erotic, I think the fact that they're openly shown in Youtube videos, retro-gaming books, and an avatar here on AtariAge forums pretty much supports this. RevEng
It's a homebrew (so perhaps a different category in people's minds) but some felt that 21 Blue featured "recognizable" adult 2600 content. Some folks even enjoyed the gameplay too.
Mangia-Boy
Yes, I like Custer's Revenge. The reason is that I heard a review about this game on a German radio station. It must have been in 1984. The review said that it has an absolute unacceptable game play. It took me 25 years when I played this game for the first time. OK, its game play is really simple, but in 21st century it's harmless. A little bit political incorrect.
Andromeda Stardust
Custer's Revenge and Beat 'em are pretty dang hilareous. I own both CIB. Never did pick up Bachelor Party though. Custer's is definitely politically incorrect for numerous reasons, though Beat 'em is the better playing title. In fact, a bloke on nintendoage ported Beat 'em over to NES and it is available at RetroUSB.com http://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=
Skippy B. Coyote
I can't that I care much for any of the adult games for the Atari 2600 from back in the day, but I sure am digging the demo for the homebrew game Carrot Kingdom. ...What? It's got a cat-girl in a French maid outfit! That counts as porn, right?
