Davinci131313
I recently picked up a Light Sixer CX-2600 but it came in a box that says Atari 2400. I have not been able to find any info on the existence of such a thing. Did they just make the boxes but not the systems? The only unique thing on the box says "Distributed in Canada by Irwin Electronics" so could this be special packaging used just in Canada?
Crimefighter
You aren't the first to find an Atari 2400 box I can tell you that much. It's been talked about in the past.http://atariage.com/forums/topic/7746-atari-2400/
+sramirez2008
I like it. I think its neat, just because its different. Do the box and console have matching serial numbers?
Crimefighter
Irwin Electronics distributed this version of the Atari in Canada.

high voltage
does it say that on the side flaps too? Edited April 28, 2016 by high voltage

jhd
I wonder when this was sold. I'm guessing that it was a later release (probably 1983 or 1984). I received my (Canadian) Atari 2600 in early-1982. I do not recall if it was distributed by Irwin, but it certainly did not have the sliver labelled box. It also included two pack-in cartridges. BassGuitari
So this was an official Atari product, not a clone?Anyone know the story on the "2400?" Doesn't seem like it would just be a misprint.
+5-11under
It sounds like a misprint, from the AA evidence I've seen. I actually saw one on Sunday, at the CGCC swap meet... one mentioned in one of the threads here.

4ever2600
I wonder if the 2600 was due to it being a 6 switch system and they revamped the 2400 because they brought the front panel down to a 4 switcher... Makes you wonder...
Avenger75
In 1982 the 6 switch console was not sold anymore. Maybe the 2400 label was due to the fact the VCS was sold without any cartridge.
tkarner
The box shows a 4 switch vader that also says 2400 on it. So that raises a couple of questions. The OP's photo shows a woodgrain 6 switch. Is that the console that came in the box? Has anyone ever seen a 2400 vader, or was "2400" only printed on the box?
