It Will Soon Be Time...

Recommended Posts

It took the Giant's 55 years to win the world series in San Francisco....and 40 years for the Warriors who had last won it all before 2015 in 1975...4 years before Intellivision!

Notice how I brought us back around to Intellivision there.... :-)

Bad news, having had companion animals who have needed extensive care I have great sympathy for you and your puppy. It's a very hard expense often to justify, but we do it anyhow. Best of luck.

I'm not a sports fan, but I don't see how sports talk is any more "stupid" than grousing over not being able to get a "complete" game collection because new games are being released too quickly to suit you.

It's like those hardcore sports fans who criticize fans of Star Trek or Star Wars as "geeks" because they spend so much time absorbed in stories of imaginary alien races and technologies and intergalactic politics. They don't realize that they spend about the same amount of time obsessing over teams, players, stats, and game rules that are almost complicated enough to require a law degree to understand. Same attention to detail, same level of obsession, just aimed in different directions.

There's billions of dollars in sports.. Not so with Star Trek. Trekkies tend to be soft. And sports fans much more tuffer.

Imagine if all those resources were redirected to things like healthcare, relieving poverty, or environmental problems. Sports does serve one purpose, it diverts our attention while some can profit from those problems. And sport is real while star trek is fantasy.

This in a thread where we're talking about selling off a multi-thousand dollar video game collection, a broke collector, and a dog receiving chemo.

Not sure if that was your intent, but it made me chuckle.

Salt has been dealing with oral cancer since December. Two surgeries, one in January and one in April, were unsuccessful in removing the cancer. I was referred to a specialist on Tuesday, who strongly recommended that we do both chemo and radiation therapy. Chemo has started immediately (it's chemo in a "pill" -- capsules that are inserted into her mouth). We're doing 4 monthly cycles of this (with something happening each week, either the capsules or an ELSPAR injection plus steroids). Radiation therapy will begin in July (4 sessions of a targeted light beam). Side effects will be extremely minimal, and the prognosis is that Salt's lip/gumline can return to normal, and her life expectancy (due to time in remission) can be extended, on average, by 1,129 days! Doing nothing would allow Salt's oral cancer to multiply (and ulcerate) exponentially all over her face, until she is no longer able to eat. I can't let that happen. So despite the extremely high cost (radiation therapy alone is $3,200), I have to do this.

I would do the same thing if at all possible - I love dogs so much - total unconditional love. I was told to put my old dog down when she needed $1,500 surgery and she was 11. I obviously refused and she lived to be 16 years 8 months which is pretty damn good for a German Shepherd/Collie Mix. Near the end when we decided we would have to put her down that night she even spared us that pain and took her last breath in front of me. Great dog and will forever be grateful for all the time I had with her - sweet dog!

Good luck with everything and hopefully you will get 3+ years with your companion.

Today, I finally began taking inventory of my Intellivision possessions, for the purpose of selling off my duplicates. I have items in storage in several places, so this might be a lengthy process. I will probably announce things that I have ready to sell, here in this thread, little by little.

If you're interested in anything that I list, please PM me with your offer. Please don't ask me how much I want for something. All serious offers will be considered, and I will sell to the highest offer. Any items that nobody wants, will probably go on eBay eventually.

Please note that I don't currently own a camera, and I have never owned any phone devices with a camera. If you have any questions about item conditions, please ask. In general, I purchased all of my Intellivision items in the best condition possible. A lot of them are brand new. Those that aren't brand new are generally in good or great condition.

I predict disaster.

Originally, I had told Jason in a PM that I didn't even want to sell anything on here. I wanted to go directly on eBay. I am just giving a chance for anybody on here, who might possibly be interested in anything that I have, to buy it from me directly before I turn to eBay. That is all.

I admit that I was undecided about selling until recently, but now I desperately need the funds to support the cancer treatments for my dog, as well as purchase future Intellivision items (single copies). There is still a chance that I may need to sell more than just my duplicates, but I will assess my financial situation again in the near future, and make that determination at that time.

In the meantime, I don't want to be left out of future Intellivision items, because, as somebody pointed out, my dog will not be around forever regardless, and I would be even more miserable, ending up both dog-less and Intellivision-less in the distant future. I guess you could say that I'm trying to gauge my own anticipated future misery.

With regards to my selling, anything is possible, even my entire collection. Stay tuned...
