Nukey Shay
Pressure Cooker...(v1 incomplete) display fix, but sandwiches are visible now when you are walking on the same scanlines. EDIT (v2): Burger bagging screen almost fixed. Extra blue pixels on lower left border removed. There's a slight problem with the color of the tops of chutes...they are recolored a little too soon on the portable. If even a single cycle is added there, they hit too late! Can't fix it either way with that issue...but they are partially colored correctly PressureCooker(AFPv1).bin PressureCooker(AFPv2).bin Edited August 13, 2017 by Nukey Shay
Nukey Shay
I'm giving up on this problem...the portable's playfield issues are just too weird. So I used the player sprites to color the center of the chutes instead. Take a stab at it if ya wanna...the loop in question is at tag LD591. The remaining issue (that I know of) is the right side of the oven on the main screen. This recolor does not show up. It is below tag LD13F. Any other problems with this before I call it quits? doug0909
Just checked back on this thread for the first time in a while. I guess no frogs and flies two player hack . I was trying to think of other 1or 2 switch 2600 2-player games and didn't come up with much... Is fall down a 2 switch game? I recall pushing up to jump.... Tangentg
There were some games I wanted 2-player hacks of but I forgot which... I think the 2-player game variation of Atlantis was one of them.
doug0909
Or Atlantis one player on each gun....
doug0909
I just replayed fall down... I guess up is used to jump and button for power ups. Giving player 2 four switches doesn't seem realistic, but even keeping the difficulty switch functionality (no wrap around ability - who wants that?), the bw/color button can still be used (pause, but the flashback has its own pause) and select switch (which just gives the title screen) for left and right. That would allow for a good 2-player pass through game (in which I wouldn't see any point to jumping) without powerups....
doug0909
And I just noticed the flashback bug when playing the game where you fall to the right of each hole...

doug0909
2016... Not sure if I'm buying the 2017... Does it have its own compatibility thread yet?
doctorclu
I've been told the emulation is about the same. Disappointing, but means this thread and all the hacks still apply. And looks like I need to update the first page on this thread again. (Still very much like the Atari Flashback Portable, but since there are not that many changes and all that we suggested suggest fall on deaf ears, no need to buy the 2017 one. ) ------------ Ok, first page up to date, let me know if you have trouble with any of the links or a left a program off the list. Nukey Shay
RallyX: Original toggles VBLANK to create the border. Edited to use the background color register instead (the timing is still slightly off). RallyX(portableV1).bin
SoundGammon
How about Concentration / Hunt & Score hack? Move an X over the square you want to reveal and hit the fire button like Flag Capture. Also, 2 player games, players take turns on that game.
Bubbabyte
So happy Rally-X got patched! Gonna go try it right now! Edited October 17, 2017 by Bubbabyte
Bubbabyte
RallyX: Original toggles VBLANK to create the border. Edited to use the background color register instead (the timing is still slightly off). Just tested and works great! You are a god! The only issue with it now is that on the very edge of the screen the road sometimes renders in black. It's not that big of a deal, but are you planning on fixing it?
Nukey Shay
Not possible (?) That is the best result I could get for the portable. Delaying or rushing the background color update by even 1 cycle makes it worse (same problem I had with Pressure Cooker).

The funny thing is I got my AFP the day before you posted it, which is funny because it's probably my favorite homebrew. I actually just joined the forums, and it's been a great experience so far. Again, thanks for fixing it! Edited October 17, 2017 by Bubbabyte
Bubbabyte
I was wondering if we could get a button hack of Midnight Magic using the same control layout as the Bumper Bash hack. What do you think?
atarifan88
I tried playing Commando Raid for the first time on my portable and noticed the bottom of the screen that shows how far the paratroopers have dug to get to your cannon is missing or cut off. Is there a way to fix this Nukey?
Nukey Shay
Vblank issue. There's also a small artifact above the cannon that needs fixing. Commandoraid(portable).bin

atarifan88
Screen glitch fixed. Also working on a paddle version. This is a great idea. I think a paddle would allow you to get at those tougher angles which would get you higher scores!
Nukey Shay
The 13 angles are unchanged from the original game, the paddle version just lets you move the gun quicker. Update to fix the remaining display issues. Autofire is also corrected (7800-compatable).
