Everett1954
One of my favorite games from the arcades and now on my Odyssey 2 and Vectrex is Exidy's Death Race. I wonder why there is no 2600 port? Is there a clone that I may not be aware of?
VectorGamer
Death Race requires two fire buttons: forward and reverse. It will never happen on the 2600 /thread
toiletunes
try Batari Basic's Zombie Chase. Not exact, but similar.

+LS650
I have to say I have both the O2 and the Vectrex releases, and really enjoy them...
Shawn
Death Race requires two fire buttons: forward and reverse. It will never happen on the 2600 /thread Mapping it to use the genesis controller can make it happen with multiple fire buttons quite easily.
+atari2600land
Wasn't there a car game that used the driving controller where you ran over people in Stella's Stocking?

+save2600
Wasn't there a car game that used the driving controller where you ran over people in Stella's Stocking? Grandma's Revenge - and it uses the regular joystick too. If the Odyssey 2 can do it... a single button CX40 VCS port can handle this game just fine. Think Sprint Master + Down for reverse. But if you're still bent on using two buttons and besides a Genesis controller version, we could also put that bastard of an accessory - the Booster Grip - to work. Most of us have one or two of those laying around, right?
DEBRO
Hi there, Glenn Saunders was working on this project years ago on [stella]. I thought about picking it up but have stalled. http://atariage.com/development_page.php?InDevelopmentID=58
Everett1954
I tried Zombie Chase and it is OK. So is this Gramma's revenge game part of of Stella's Stocking? The odyssey 2 controller has 1 button and Death Race plays fine on it. How about it Debro or Thomas, care to finish up Death Derby? How complete is it now? Rob Mitchell
Death Race requires two fire buttons: forward and reverse. It will never happen on the 2600 /thread With the driving controller plugged into the Quickjoy pedal controller, only one controller port is needed to play a 2600 Death Race game. So it could be a 1 or 2 person game. Does this inspire you Debro !!
Zonie
We need to really think about a homebrew controller to use with new homebrew games. Perhaps not as advanced as my last attempt here, but maybe just three buttons, mapped the same as Genesis controllers so you could use one of those or make your own... Thomas Jentzsch
How about it Debro or Thomas, care to finish up Death Derby? How complete is it now? More than 15 years ago I created a kernel for Glenn. He planned to make a game out of it, but eventually gave up. So besides the kernel there is nothing.

+x=usr(1536)
It looks as though the various methods of contact reached their intended target! With the permission of Mike Salzman, author of Death Race 2600, I'm attaching the ROM image of the game to this post Skee-Ball is also being included, which was another of his games which had previously been released in a different thread. Mike wasn't 100% certain as to how close to release this version of Death Race 2600 was, but I've given it a shot and it's very playable. He'll take a look in the future to see what other versions may be extant, but there's no timeline on this. Huge thanks to Mike for giving permission to make Death Race 2600 available. It's very much appreciated, and it's great to see another homebrew getting some fresh air after a few years of falling off the map. Living Room Arcade
Boy, I screwed that one up! Thanks @x=usr(1536) for letting me know. I agree with what you said about it being more playable and seeming to be finished or closer to being finished. The Patreon ROM version has a title screen and four play modes: one player, two players, one player vs. CPU and demo (watch CPU vs. CPU). For fans of the 1976 Exidy arcade game, it's a real gem, eh?
