+CharlieChaplin
Well, regarding Lemmings: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=Lemming&butt_details_x= (several Lemmingi versions, Lemmings/XMAS Lemmings by Datri, etc.) Tommingi is already mentioned above! The Brundles + editor: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=Brund&butt_details_x= and errrrmmm. with a lot of imagination this is also a (cheap!) Lemmings clone: http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=2549 So I think there are enough Lemmings versions on the A8 already.
emkay
Tommingi is already mentioned above! Tommingi is by far the best version on the Atari. I has all the game needs. Eventually some color and sound enhancements could be added and errrrmmm. with a lot of imagination this is also a (cheap!) Lemmings clone: http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=2549 Wrong link? So I think there are enough Lemmings versions on the A8 already. If there at least was "the Lemmings".... which means Tommingi more polished... peteym5
I asked several times about what people like to see. I asked if they want to see Ladybug, Mouse Trap, Turtle, and a few others. I considered my own eat the dot maze game, but what I looked at was those games were created for other systems because they could not obtain the Pac-Man rights that Atari had. Someone did make a port of something like LadyBug on the 8 bit, forgot what it was called, can someone help me with that? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/266008-more-games-to-come/ I pitched a few ideals like Solar Fox. I am also busy resurrecting Jungle Quest, a Pitfall / Mario Bros. like clash. A Lemmings clone looks interesting, that game is meant to be used with a mouse. Maybe my controller selection ideal could work. Have it play with keyboard, joystick, trackball, or mouse. Looking through the list, I see people calling for Role Playing Game and Adventure Type game titles. I did 2 Secretum Labyrinth games, a 3rd may be in the works. I prefer to do an original RPG/Adventure game because people complain about copyrights and I don't give away the game for free. +CharlieChaplin
Tommingi is by far the best version on the Atari. I has all the game needs. Eventually some color and sound enhancements could be added Wrong link? Nope, believe it or not "One man and his droid" as said before with a lot of imagination is also a (very cheap) Lemmings clone. What do you have to do in Lemmings ? Guide the stupid Lemmings to the exit by giving them one of several abilities (digging, etc.). What do you have to do in One Man and his Droid ? Guide the stupid Ramboids/alien sheep to the exit/transporter by using one of your three droid abilities (flying, digging, tunneling)... There is also a game called "Arena" by A.Guillaume, where you have to guide some thingies (pods?) to the exit; you have to reach a certain quota like in Lemmings (e.g. 10 of 50 must survive) and you have limited time like in Lemmings, but afair there are no special abilities like in Lemmings. Do not remember much from that game (so my description could be completely wrong), because I last played it in the 90s when KE-Soft sold it and also compared it to Lemmings... but I did not like it very much and gave it away. popmilo
Less conversions, more fresh games and new ideas. ... Be creative! Agreed 100000% with this answer. Make brand new space battle game, real time strategy, jump'n'run shooter, scrolling shooter, gta like adventure, beat-m-up... There's so many ideas around. Just code something like you would on modern platforms. Limit your gfx and sound to simplest possible and just experiment with gameplay... Take ideas from gamejams that produce 100 games in couple days. It's not that much more difficult on A8...
Starman
I was always pissed that a version of Marble Madness was never released, but it was for the C64.
emkay
Agreed 100000% with this answer. How to U-turn the community? Building games on the limits of the A8 could eventually build new genres, but running after C64 and other platforms... and styles ... is what the participants keeps moving. emkay
Yes, Lemmings came later, but it is much easier to say that One Man... is a Lemmings clone - than saying Lemmings is a One Man... clone Even from that point of view, I couldn't agree. The games were basically too different. (When I say One Man... is a Lemmings clone, most Atarians know what I mean, if I say it the other way around, no-one knows what I mean...) OK, so I'm not "most Atarians" could you explain that a little further?

Leading with example To be honest, my next game will probably be "just a port" of a game from another platform, but only the main idea. As I have only limited amount of time available for retro coding, this is the best I can do in these last weeks before Abbuc compo. "Better", more original ideas will take more time but I'll do them for sure.
