OCAT
^^ I got burned also (but it was outright fraud), but the lesson you learn is what will make you stronger. This amount of money you lost was not a life savings, but it got you to "FEEL" what it would it is like to get frauded, not nice. So the next time some up and coming turd in a suit opens his mouth you call them out! RIGHT AWAY! They have nothing but a render? You chew them out hard. This should have been what happened after the Coleco Chameleon SCAM, but somehow people lined up for this Ataribox. When this fails, and it will, it will be the end of this retro dream one machine can do all crowdfunding. Atari managed to kill thier videogames in the 1980's they sure as well will do it again in the 2020's If someone is smart enough to make a retro console, they can do it without the cash, make the system prototype, FINISHED with enclosure UI everything completely working, reviewed on youtube, then crowdfund for limited production. If you are too incompetent to make a prototype before asking for money you do not deserve the chance. This solution to a problem turned out to be the problem is search of a solution, as they are jumping from one designer to the next droppin off features, including the original mold!, next it will just be a plastic project box they bought from leftover Radio Shack warehouse stock that has been sitting around, with a slapped on sticker with Atari logo on it. Rob Wyatt is also guilty of this, allowing himself to get caught up in this pipe dream, how do you let some Flim Flam snake oil salesman stiff you 6 months pay? somethings smells like burned capacitors here. You telling me that someone who worked on Xbox, Playstation cannot lay down the facts that 3 million to make a console is pocket change? He must have seen how much cash was dumped into major console development to say something at the start, tell cheasehead "You are not building anything custom with 3 million calfeteria lunch money building" much less making, shipping & supporting. The only compettitors the the Atari VCS is Atari. The PC/Laptop heck even the smartphone people are using to read this forum is are far superior to the Atari VCS when it comes out, top of the line cell phones cost like $2000 now with all sorts of advanced tech, obscene amounts of storage & games galore. My only hope to backers is that this turns out to be one of those situations where the item is a complete utter unmitigated failure but what you guys end up with is a collector item that appreciates in value. Example is the NES cart Action 52, all games including Cheetahmen are trash, but now it sells for about $500. (What cost $199 in 1991 would cost about $370 today)

I have a feeling it will have some sort of historical value down the line. But nothing else. There's absolutely no way this thing will be successful. o u o

I can't possibly feel bad for people like him. He's a masochist that seems to get off on being ignored by his heros at "Atari." If I had a dollar for every time he was thoroughly ignored after grovelling for "real big news" or token info or Atari's "big partner" I'd have enough money to buy the company from Fred. Seriously, screw these kind of people. They choose to stay in these kind of abusive relationships. Let them reap what they sow. 5

Well in their defense it isn't like they can get their money back at this point. That might be a separation that happens after it is officially a scam, or the probably crappy units are shipped. Ah well I have two of the regular ones. Got the second one at an awesome deal (don't remember) mainly to have an extra set of joysticks.

Paul Slocum
We have an update! 1) Fred gave Wozniak a Speaker Hat. 2) The AtariVCS is mentioned only one time in passing, most of the time is spent talking about organizing e-sports, the speaker hat, and Star Wars. 3) Fred's holiday gift guide attached below. How many could they *possibly* have sold, especially at the full $129 asking price?
