+Allan
I started making ATXs with my Kryoflux and I thought I'd post them here with my thoughts/successes/failures. Here's a few I started with. Basic_Arithmetic_Atari.atx . = works fine. Counting_Atari_Damage.atx Counting_Atari.atx = works fine. Gave it a second try and it worked. Earth_Science_Atari.atx = = works fine. Filewriter.atx First_Xlent_Word_Processor.atx = works fine.(not protected) Graphic_Master_Datasoft.atx . = works fine. MECC2.atx MEGAFILER.atx MEGAFONT2.atx MIDITRACK_III.atx .= SEEMS to work fine. MODE_MIXER_BATTLE.atx . Doesn't load a couple of the programs. PQ_Entertainment_A.atx . = The main program on another disk can't read it. PQ_Entertainment_B.atx = The main program on another disk can't read it. PQ_Sports_A.atx . = The main program on another disk can't read it. PQ_Sports_B.atx . = The main program on another disk can't read it. PSINTERFACE.atx . = Doesn't load Spelling_Bee_Atari.atx . = Works fine. VIRTUOSO.atx = Works fine. Word_Games_Atari.atx . = Works fine. Allan ATX Files.zip Raw files.zip
+DjayBee
Hi Allan, thanks for sharing these. Did you submit the Kryoflux raw dumps to Farb already? I finally got around to put all my feedback together. PQ_Entertainment_A.atx . = The main program on another disk can't read it.PQ_Entertainment_B.atx = The main program on another disk can't read it. PQ_Sports_A.atx . = The main program on another disk can't read it. PQ_Sports_B.atx . = The main program on another disk can't read it. You probably tried them with the program's dump on Atarimania. This dump as well as the one on atarionline.pl search for the identification of the data disks in sector 9.Your and Farb's data disks do have their identification in sector 3.The data disks on Atarimania and atarionline.pl have identifications in both sectors. If you use the program's dump in Farb's torrent it will work but you need the original controllers to use it.I patched the Atarimania version to use sector 3 and attached this image here. The archive also contains two additional data disks from atarionline.pl. VIRTUOSO.atx = Works fine. This dump does not work. It shows the same problem that Kevin's dump had. Sector 707 has to be "long" but a8rawconv <v0.92 converts it as missing.http://atariage.com/forums/topic/234684-atari-8-bit-software-preservation-initiative/?view=findpost&p=3625459 Unfortunately the raw dump is missing from the archive you attached to this thread. This particular protection is quite common. I took track 40 from some other title and injected it in your ATX. Find the result attached. Btw.: Your version differs in many aspects from Kevin's, although both are v2.1. MECC2.atx This image is missing. In case it's useful to you or somebody else:Find attached a tool to identify MECC images/disks (title, version, year) and to automatically crack the protected ones. +DjayBee
Due to bad assumptions the MECCinfo tool inside the above MECC-Dos works only for a few titles. It also does not detect all currently known MECC disk formats.Version 1.12 works on all MECC images I currently have and detects all five disk formats: MECC - unprotected Atari 00 - sectors 3 and 720 missing Atari 10 - nearly identical with some code moved by $10 byte APX STD - sectors 3 and 720 missing APX 361 - sector 361 missing The image also contains a readme.txt about usage of the whole disk. +DjayBee
MEGAFILER.atxMEGAFONT2.atxMODE_MIXER_BATTLE.atx . Doesn't load a couple of the programs.PSINTERFACE.atx . = Doesn't load Some more findings: MEGAFILER.atxfile misses from the attached ZIP file MEGAFONT2.atxBad dump but it the same version as Farb's correct dump MODE_MIXER_BATTLE.atx5 bad sectors in data area with two of them belonging to DUP.SYS. Might be repairable with closer investigation of the raw dump. Or somebody else can contribute an image; an ATR would suffice. PSINTERFACE.atx1 missing sector in data area. Perhaps somebody else can contribute an image; an ATR would suffice too.
_The Doctor__
Sounds weird that more than one run is yielding different results... make sure it's all cleaned and lubed... always make sure things are dry in between dumps and it seems a raw dump is always expected just in case there is a problem...double check cables connectors and power supplies. Did you ever find another dump of this title, even another non-working image or a XEX? I still would like to repair the above dump, but yours is the only one that showed up so far. I have more disks for him Kyro at some point. Plus a ton of cassettes I have to turn into WAVs. It's all about the time. 2

Woohoo, four years later we finally found a copy with the needed sectors.
