Number of VBXE installations

This poll was to get an idea of who currently has a VBXE, nothing more.

 

For those planning on buying on, they can vote in the poll once they buy it/install it.

Well, then, that's pretty lame. I think the other guy is right. See, I do plan on buying one, one of the first to vote, and I picked "do not have VBXE" and wrote in the comments *yet*, but guess what? I can't vote again in this poll, so if you want accuracy in say, a month or two from now, you'll have to scrap this poll and start all over and get new owners and old owners to all re-vote...but maybe it should be revolt. Because I for one am not going to bother voting again when I get one, even if I could.

What became the Amiga was an Atari computer, designed and pretty much paid for.... that's a war fought over and over... but whatever...

 

I'm not against the VBXE, in fact it's not far from actual Atari design on some Arcade machines.... which would allow their conversion to the Atari much more easily.... I like that!

 

blitters and shifters aren't non Atari either... they were used and added to more than one platform.... The only problem is when you don't get a full force conversion for both... and that's what I'm after... great pains were taken to make things compatible either in hardware or with software.. following the same architecture so as not to impact the developers.... you can see it all the way up to Loraine and to an almost non existant extent the ST(thanks tram) line as it tried to steer to sanity with TT030 and Falcon030, albeit in true fashion they crippled the Falcon, could have stacked the TT and came out ahead. First thing I did with the Falcon was double the clock, drop in math co processor, and add memory at un-boxing.

 

The 8 bit was originally designed with expansion and updates in mind... those slots hidden or in the open were there for a reason...

I couldn't have said it better. That's the reason I'm open to any and all upgrades, not that I make or buy them all anyway. But even going beyond Atari, at computer lines like the Apple II, the IIgs specifically, even after better 16-bit machines had come along, because the Apple II line was still a big seller, took the line the next logical step; 65816 or similar, new graphics and sound, etc. If Atari 8-bits were still a going concern commercially, or I should say as successful as the Apple II line, we probably would have seen something very similar in the 800/XL/XE line. Since we didn't, I'll do it myself, is my philosophy, The VBXE, Rapidus, memory upgrades, steareo pokey, etc., etc. are the way to fulfill the line that I feel was abandoned too soon, regardless of reason.

I'm curious to see just how many of these are actually out there.

 

I think there were twice the current poll total pushed out on candle's first production order (or more than?)...
