Byte Knight
Hey guys, The Sysops of some of the remaining Apple II BBS's are announcing "The Great Apple II BBS Tour" contest where users will solve puzzles on each BBS. It's kinda like a retro-version of Ready Player One! Once a user has discovered the password from each BBS, they'll get to claim a prize. Multiple prizes will be awarded including a CFFA-3000, an Apple IIGS, a $75 discount code from ReactiveMicro, and much more! The contest is set to start January 1st, but now's your chance to familiarize yourself with the BBS's before the contest begins. Here are the participating BBS's: A 80's Apple II BBS - telnet://a80sappleiibbs.ddns.net:6502 Captain's Quarters - telnet://cqbbs.ddns.net:6502 Dura-Europas - telnet://dura-bbs.net:6359 How to sign on to a BBS • The easiest way is to use a terminal program like SyncTERM on your modern computer here: http://syncterm.bbsdev.net • Or use TCPser on a Raspberry Pi with a null modem cable as described here: http://www.insentricity.com/a.cl/215/putting-your-retro-computer-on-the-line • Or get a WiModem232 when in stock: https://www.cbmstuff.com/products.php?cat=2 Full details of the contest and instructions are on each BBS. Happy hacking!
