HatefulGravey
20,005 with 6 lives. Glad that is out of the way. I might get a few beers and come back for a stupid high score before the week is out.

+KaeruYojimbo
Space Jockey A/A 20K + 6 lives. Thought about going for more but decided a few bonus points weren't worth the time. In defense of this otherwise bland game, I will say I've always thought the animations were well done.
StanJr
Does it still count if I let my 5 year old son play for a few hours between 20K and 80K while I take a nap?

HatefulGravey
lol, it took me 3 games getting to 20k with 6 lives to learn there was a spot on the screen I could park to get the picture. I kept getting to 20k and dying while trying to get a picture of my score at 20k and 6 lives. Did I misunderstand something and expose myself to more tedium than needed? Does taking a single shot of the game at 60k with 6 lives count as achieving both the main goal and the bonus goal? Just want to clear this up for anyone that hasn't already done this. karokoenig
Yes. Counts as both. Glad to hear that. Biggest challenge was fiddling with my very old and clunky camera while not getting killed on screen. Hence the 1,295 points overshoot. Needed to get that sixth life back :-). Space Jockey: 61,295. Too tired to go for 80k right now, and probably short on time during the rest of the week. I must confess that - even though it's crap - I actually don't mind playing this for some time. I have a very soft spot for this game in my heart, for reasons I might be able to show you later this week. Need time to rummage round in my collection and take a photo or two... HatefulGravey
Yes. Counts as both. My confusion, and subsequent exposure to excess Space Jockey, should serve as a lesson about playing Atari at 5am like I'm in my teens again. Lauren Tyler
SPACE JOCKEY: 42,035 So yeah, you're an alien attempting to take over the planet, and they're sending propeller jets, fighter jets, and helicopters after you, along with hot-air balloons aimed to crash into you. On the ground are tanks that can only shoot you if you're low enough, and you can also shoot houses and trees for bonus points. Is it any reason why U.S. Games went bankrupt? SPACECHASE: 4,150 No question why Games by Apollo went bankrupt.
Leto27
Spacechase 45625 points. Ultra-boring selection of games, there is no doubt why the industry of video game consoles fall down in 1983, overflooded with mediocre to bad games. I am in a dilemma of giving another shot to this games Space Jockey 100565 points, after this play I will take a SeaQuest or River raid season Edited February 18, 2018 by Leto27

+Spriggy
Space Jockey 22,050 - 6 Lives Played on: STELLA - PAL Rom. You can just sit in the lower 1/3 of the screen, twitch shooting the middle and bottom enemies (forget the top enemies) and get into a rhythm. Thought of continuing to 40k .. but even the laptop went into sleep mode #edit# @AtariWarlord - Didn't notice your quote mate. Similar comment. karokoenig
The reason why I have soft spot for "Space Jockey": Back in the early 80s, I owned a game called "Time Race", which is a hack of Space Jockey. Completely identical gameplay, just with different sprites. It was one of those low-budget hacks that was sold by the huge german mailorder company Quelle back in the days. I never liked the game back then. BUT: See attached photo. The second cart from the left is my original cart from back when I was a kid. This cart, plus Q-Bert and Grand Prix, are all that is left from my original Atari 2600 setup. So, as crappy as this game is, I cherish that cart as the core of my current 2600 collection. Enter my own little guilty pleasure: I discovered the bottomless pit of Atari hacks/clones/variants, but want to keep it limited, so I don't swamp myself. My goal is to collect everything that has to do with Time Race. On the photo, you see part of that - On the left of course the original "Space Jockey". I think I have more in some other boxes which are currently out of reach. The sinister part is that one of those carts isn't actually Time Race, but a game called "Time Warp" - which was sold in some regions with a 1:1 copy of the "Time Race" title, manual and cover art. That's why I love collecting for the 2600. It is complete and utter anarchy. Clones and hacks, labels, cart designs, everything. There are stories to be told even in shovelware titles such as this. Nintendo with their uniform boredom can go f*** itself :-).
