Defender / Stargate. Why the difference in smoothness?

IIRC, Stargate is a prototype that hadn't been optimized the way Defender had. Much like Sinistar. I'm hoping some hacker can speed it up a bit someday, the way people fixed Sinistar. It's a good port that really only suffers from the slowdown.

Its a cartridge based accelerator that uses a 68030 (I think) running at a high clock rate, its also emulated in Altirra if you want a sneak peek..

It uses the 65c816 and plugs into the CPU socket. Not a cartridge but very easy to install. I love mine. Adds a bunch of cool features

Yeah, mix up time on both, got my Snes and Amiga used processors mixed up :) (and to think I used to remove the PAL checks on the Snes cart dumps...My old head is going soft :)

The only bit I got right was that its emulated on Altirra :)
