AtariWarlord
Vocelli, please disregard my previous "high score" of 27,000. I was accidentally playing on AA rather than AB (because, as was typical, Mattel had to make things non-intuitive). My new "high" -- if you can call it that -- is 18,000. And yes, I'm bitter -- especially with people going around saying how "easy" this game is.
DanielJSorenson
Dark Cavern Game 1 Score: 44000 Difficulty: A/B I never had nor played this game as a kid. My first time playing it was today, as a 41 year-old man. My 30 minutes of play today netted me some very short games. Those robots are difficult! Unlike normal games where you shoot something and then it's gone, you've got to shoot quickly and get away quickly for this game. After realizing the necessity of this tactic, the game was fun. Bonus Bio Info: Enduro I'm not a race car driver, but Enduro can be used to describe something about me because, as its name suggests, endurance is part of it. I also owned the game as a kid and played it quite a bit. I never became involved in the normal team sports (baseball, football, basketball, etc.) that other kids became involved in, but I did get into running - endurance-type running. I have fond memories of my dad and I running together and of him being at my races. Aside from just enjoying running for its own sake, I've competed in many 5Ks and 10Ks over the years as well as one marathon and two ultra-marathons. StanJr
201000 Finally. Once you figure out how to influence the enemy movements you can get into a rhythm. That doesn't keep the spiders and wavy lines from screwing you over, though.

S.BAZ
A little about my life -- videogames and gardening are currently my two main hobbies. Also I eat LOTS of fruit! I have one arcade machine and it's a Mr. Do! game which features lots of fruit and I like other games with fruit too. Before I got back into crackin' out on videogames my main activity was playing music... and the music is part of why I love those games! So my Mr. Do! cart is my pick, and these are the only three Do! games in my collection (I missed a chance to get the original arcade machine for $50 because I just didn't damn have the money!): also of note: Mr. Do! is supposed to be out mowing the lawn while harvesting cherries and knocking baddies out with falling apples. Read: gardening.

Hank Rearden
How many game options are there supposed to be. I don't have a manual. Game select doesn't see to do anything on my cartridge. I have left at A and right a B. What's the differences? My new high is 234,000 at 1A/B.

I have left at A and right a B. What's the differences? My new high is 234,000 at 1A/B. On the 'A' difficulty, robots can shoot in the direction they are moving in and the direction they are moving away from at the beginning of the game. On the 'B' difficulty, the robots can only shoot in the direction they are moving until 20,000 points is reached. Also, when a robot is shot, it is replaced quicker by another robot on 'A' than it is on 'B'.
Scrabbler15
233,000 I already have my bonus, but I'll share this, anyhow. When I was at the Intellivision Astrosmash competition in 1982, Night Stalker was one of the two Intellivision carts that I won. (Lock N Chase was the other.) I loved Night Stalker and played the guts out of it. I wasn't even aware of Dark Cavern until I played it in the HSC. When I first saw it, my reaction was " It's Night Stalker! With a joystick!" And I fell in love with it all over again. .
AtariWarlord
Dark Cavern AB 101,000. Vocelli, I'm posting a lot today so I re-edited this post to remove my old 51,000 score in favor of this one. Thank you. DrMooCowz
242000 Didn't understand why the robots didn't disappear when you shot them at first. Then the game clicked with me fairly quickly. Hank Rearden
So what is the purpose of the right difficulty switch? On the 'A' difficulty, robots can shoot in the direction they are moving in and the direction they are moving away from at the beginning of the game. On the 'B' difficulty, the robots can only shoot in the direction they are moving until 20,000 points is reached.
