BIGHMW
It's a simple open and shut case, has anyone tried to come out with (even in prototype form) a playable (and graphically faithful) 2600 version of this great 1981 arcade classic from Taito. I have Qix for the 5200, and while there were two versions of Tempest that were made for the 2600 that never got released on cartridge form, including the original now-infamous blue-speedo patterned version, to go along with the Keithen Hayenga masterpiece we 5200 owners were so delightfully treated to, nobody ever tried their hand at developing let alone releasing a faithful-enough version of Qix for the 2600. Will someone, anyone, try and come up with a finished, cartridge-ready version of Qix? Even a working binary for us to include on our Harmony Encore SD card multicart will do us just fine. It should be just simple physics, the 2600 should not have any trouble being able to display it, although we know the qix on it will be flickering (it was also flickering on the 5200 version especially in later waves with two qixes) so we can deal with that easily
retrorandy
Great suggestion... you would think Qix would VERY much lend itself to an Atari 2600 version. Edited March 23, 2018 by retrorandy
Keatah
I'm sure the hardware is capable of it, especially with CDF & DPC+ banking and all the enhancement harmony/melody offer. Qix and many other arcade ports are now realistically doable. It's a matter of developers taking the time to do it.
Flojomojo
Sounds like it would flicker a lot? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/7294-qix/ Qix was one of the first GameBoy games I bought, it was nice to finally have a home version, but it's shocking to think it was almost thirty years ago. +save2600
A flickery 2600 version... no thanks. A 7800 version however, would make more sense and actually do the game justice.
+LS650
No offense, but there are plenty of decent QIX games on other platforms. I'd rather see developers put their time into coming up with something completely new and original. Just MHO.
