Atari 7800 Power Switch Issue - Possible Cleaning Solutions

Hey all,

I was hoping someone here could provide some cleaning tips for my Atari 7800s power switch. It likes to work when it wants to. It could work on a single press or it could take a couple dozen attempts to make it power on.

I have spent the entire afternoon reading older threads about replacing the switch with parts from Mouser(sp?), but I was hoping there was an easier, cleaning technique available that I could try before I attempt a part replacement. Im no expert at soldering, and the last thing I want to do is screw up my 7800. Aside from the power switch issue, my system works perfectly.

Thank you in advance to those who respond; its greatly appreciated!

Edit: Fixed spelling.

(Slaps forehead) Doh! A pinned thread already exists on this topic! I should have checked before doing a bunch of thread searches and then making this post. Oddly enough, the pinned topic never appeared in any of my searches.

To the moderators - please go easy on this poor soul! You could always beat me with the same newspaper my wife uses on me. According to her, it doesnt leave any marks. :(
