June has 30 days.

:dunce: Since I can't edit my first post we're gonna play forever!

Okay, since I plan to pick another great homebrew for July, this round will have to have an end on June, 30th.

The ROM doesn't work for me. Just gives me a black screen with a very high pitched ringing beep. Using Stella. Is there a PAL ROM as well? Don't think it's a region problem, but you never know.

On the tv that I usually use, the top of the game where the score is is cut off at the top. But it works on another TV I have in the basement. Same thing happened with a couple of other

games on my Harmony cartridge.

Yes there's a PAL version: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/272632-super-cobra-arcade/?p=3901501

I think you're going to need version 5 or above of stella. Mine is 4.7 and it doesn't work too.

7440 on one of my first tries - I guess the big scores are because of the continuations that are allowed......

Continues don't make much difference to the score because your score is zeroed when you take a continue.

But they help more players to capture the booty which is a nice achievement. So by allowing continues the game turns to be, imo, more enjoyable without affecting scores .

If I remember right, I got 2 booties and lost on stage 5 or 6 on the game with 115k points.

Since the 9th stage on the 3rd time through is a special one, I want to get there without continues. Although that's probably not "mastering the game", it's another nice achievement in my view.

I discovered a strategy to slowly achieve a high score.

It's similar the Asteroids' strategy when you keep one or two rocks to slowly score points by destroying the ufo. In Super Cobra Arcade it is possible to grab the booty multiple times, loosing it and then repeat the final stage.

I don't know if this is possible in the Arcade, regardless for this competition this strategy is not allowed.

Did you play for this round?

I've made an account at twitch and was ready to watch. Lasting 22 minutes for the video I had to go. :(

If you put a video in your youtube channel, I'll watch you there as I'm already doing with other videos.

If you want to join this round, just post saying what was your score.

If you had a friend playing with you and he wanted to participate, I'll gladly list his or her score too.
