Flojomojo
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/01/looks_like_retro-bit_is_resurrecting_segas_switch-like_handheld_the_nomad Fast forward to the present day, and modern rechargeable batteries and LCD screens should make this a more viable proposition, and the rumoured price point of around $80 would also make it pretty appealing. It's worth noting that a lot of speculative hardware gets shown off at CES, and seeing as both of the units shown lack Sega's branding, it could be that these units have yet to meet with the company's approval.
Osgeld
meh its probably some super weak arm running a janky emulator, I do like the retro-bit controllers so that hopefully will be ok
youxia
I must admit, the resilience of the retro gaming device market amazes me. I would've thought that the point of saturation was reached long time ago. Especially seeing as most of them are, to borrow from Osgeld, "janky", both in design and emu quality.
Punisher5.0
The Dpad location on those N64 controllers........wtf?
DragonGrafx-16
The Dpad location on those N64 controllers........wtf? lolwut... the were probably thinking most games don't even use the dpad so for the odd game like Kirby 64 you'd just use an original controller. MrMaddog
I've always though that the 90's color handhelds like the Game Gear, Lynx & Nomad would be more viable if they used Li-Ion battery packs...even cheap Chinese portables running emulated ROMS would still be better than carting around all those batteries which would get drained quickly. Austin
That button layout on the Nomad Knockoff™ looks far from ideal. It barely aligns with how your thumbs will lay across the buttons. Typical Retro-Bit, nonsensical trash (to put it generously!).
Shawn
Interesting products.
homerhomer
I might be in the market for this. I want a nomad but the shortfalls of high price, old blurry lcd and short battery life make it not as attractive. If reviews are good though this might be the ticket. Megadragon15
The Dpad location on those N64 controllers........wtf? They are obviously copying the Hori N64 pad from Japan: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-64-Hori-Mini-Pad-Controller/dp/B000031KAG .
Flojomojo
Or possibly even rebranding the same thing. It's probably in that configuration to avoid infringing on Nintendo's trademark. I only used the Dpad for Tetrisphere, personally.
derFunkenstein
The Dpad location on those N64 controllers........wtf? I saw an interview with some Retro-Bit nerd on some YouTube channel and they said it was modeled after the Hori mini pad for N64
