bigfriendly
I came across a filthy Playstation at my local thrift store. It actually booted up and came on with the game that was left in it. Cleaned it up and it looks great but neither controller will recognize when put into port one. Is this a common occurrence with these systems when real dirty? Any tips or advice from PS1 fans would be appreciated.
derFunkenstein
You can start by just inspecting the port. Are there any pins missing? It's kind of hard to see because of the way the port is built but shine a light in there and make sure you can see contacts in each hole.
CatPix
PS1 have a regular issue with the port losing voltage. https://segaxtreme.net/threads/ps1-controller-port-repair.7506/
Azathoth
I've had the same problem, I just bypassed the blown fuse and ran a wire straight to the point on the controller port.
Tanooki
I got some spare PS1 systems with issues but the controller ports arent the problem. You could strip the parts.
