jcbstein
Is anyone familiar with this cartridge or company? I can not seem to find any information on it. I would guess it is like the Impersonator or Supercart based on the name but who knows.
jcbstein
I have found only 1 reference to Maxxam Dataware Corp. in Analog Computing issue #11 in an article about Atari Pascal (see link). https://archive.org/details/analog-computing-magazine-11/page/n43
+Nezgar
Reference to MAXXAM yes, but the Analog article refers to a different product the "RAM Page" . @jcbstein If you actually have this cartridge, can you open it up and see whats inside? If there is no RAM or a battery backup inside, then it is most likely similar to impersonator. If it has RAM/Battery then it may be more similar to the Persistent RAM or S/XEGS RAMcart. I posted a topic about my Persistent RAM cart previously:
AtariGeezer
Is this the same one that was sold with a 600xl/800xl on ebay last week? I saw it, but passed... Edited June 23, 2019 by AtariGeezer

AtariGeezer
Cool, hopefully it's more than a "The Pill" or similar...
_The Doctor__
cool to see, could it be an early AtariMax cartridge AtariMaxxam Dataware. A real rom/eprom simulator usually has a cable attached. While a pill just show cart as being present, and flash carts normally do not simulate cartridges with banking et al as the original cart presents. Most of todays sd to cart devices simulate both. An eprom simulator with cables and different dummy/empty carts did do both by virtue of the eprom being in the s-100/pc memory served to a ribbon header plugged into the actual cart and it's existing banking circuitry. That type of shell should easily & safely separate with light prying at the seam. Those Solakian shells only have 4 plastic posts holding the two halves of the shell together. Hopefully you can share a picture of the PCB inside.

+Nezgar
Wow... totally handbombed. Prototype style. No external switches, so either it was meant to be slammed into the cart port when you wanted the cart area of ram to be write protected, or some of those logic chips allowed some software control over enabling, and selecting to write protect either 8K or 16K... Can't be many of them out there if they were all hand wired like that...
