yami
for obvious reasons as it violates the rules, like ... was released before, port, etc ... tropsy.zip
Igor
This is very cool! Is there any more details about this game? Thank you for sharing!
+karri
OMG! The game is very similar to the secret HotDog.lnx game we found on the 1st of April. I believe it was discovered on the same strange site.
yami
I think the game principle does not need any explanation...
Igor
Yes the game itself doesn't need explanation but it would be nice to know the history, etc. It's from way back in 93 it seems, any information at all about it would be good. @karri which site are you referring to? is it still running? +karri
http://54.92.86.186/ This site has this lost game that was "created 30 years ago". Or it may be an April Fools prank by @sage, @marss, @Guitari and @karri. Or it may be genuine. Who knows? We do ???? The same site also has the long lost copy of HotDog. Perhaps this would give a clue of the authenticity of the games on this site?.
Igor
Ah that site! Yes I've seen it previously. I've got the Hot Dog April Fools on Atari Gamer, it's actually a fun game to play!
+karri
You can add Tropsy to the same category.

sage
next question would be if there is a level editor with which one can change the backgrounds

It is the same hex editor mentioned in another thread. What about releasing the ultimate configurable game next year? A lnx file full of ones and zeros and an editor for the user to configure ALL aspects of the game?
42bs
Just now, karri said: Of course there is. It is the same hex editor mentioned in another thread. But three different versions: 256B, 1024B and a full 512KB. (Including easter egg).

Nop90
At some point, to make the game more cheatable, I was considering to add in Nutmeg a hidden feature to poke data in memory (do you remind c64?), but since some memory locations can be dangerous hw registers, I though it's better not to do it. But the idea was cool.
sage
you can still modify the rom. (see my AVP or Xenophobe cheat for example). Unless its well packed and encrypted (like the tetris above)

+karri
There is always the possibility to leave the eeprom for your own scripts or macros. If your game has a fixed library in RAM then you could compile your own stuff and save the objects that call lynx.lib routines. There is even a 64k eeprom that costs only around €2 and fits my pcb. Or you could include a small threaded interpretive language compiler like Forth and develop your own games on the Lynx!
+karri
Now when I think about this there is also the chip8 interpreter.
