sgupta
Hey all, Waiting on my original 3DO to get here. Planning to hook up via S-Video and an XRGB Framemeister, which has the options of CRT-style scanlines. I'll be mostly playing Super Wing Commander and Wing Commander III. Do most of you with original hardware and the option prefer scanlines, or do you prefer without? I know they can increase the perception of sharpness, but there might be a compromise to that. Austin
I prefer to play without scanlines when I am upscaling to HD displays.
Flojomojo
I tolerate real scanlines on CRT displays. I don't like fake scanlines on modern panels that don't need them. It's a purely aesthetic choice and it's up to you to decide which you prefer. No one will judge you either way. It occurs to me I owe you a response re 3DO stuff, sorry about that!
zzip
I find I prefer the scanline look, provided it's not too obnoxious, and also it's not scaled unevenly by the scaler.
sgupta
Seems like a very much personal preference thing. I might just have to play with it and see how I feel about it. ? Thanks all, and more opinions certainly welcome!
bad_boo
I am a scanlines lover. I always look for that. With my OSSC, I set the scanlines on my consoles hooking up to it.... I can't hook up my 3DO as it is S-Video only (unless it was RGB modded), so I have it hooked up to my sony trinitron. Anyways, just just commenting letting you know that I love scanlines too.
