doctor_x
I have nothing to do with the auction.. just sharing because this is a VERY complete percom and not ridiculously priced. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283691136127
xrbrevin
here is one in the UK but it is 110v so no use to me https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333412408322?ViewItem=&item=333412408322
777ismyname
Wow, that is at least three Atari Percom drives listed at the same time (edit: the one mentioned by the OP is sold). The U.K. seller doesn’t ship to the U.S.

xrbrevin
i originally offered his starting price but he refused. it was after this that i noticed it was 110v so i was lucky there the auction ran through and nobody bidded on it. then the seller relisted it at the same price

Either he wants only Brits to get it or shipping one of those to the USA would probably end up a box of scrap metal unless the seller does a really good job of packaging it..Mind you with the extra hassle of the 110v probably makes it a tough purchase..

krslam
Did you notice your thread title says 'Nice reasonable person on ebay'? I'm assuming this was an auto-correct issue. If anyone does truly find a nice, reasonable person on ebay, that would be a truly rare item!

Tis all good. I assumed he meant he wanted it for himself I’ve always wanted one of these drives, but one isn’t in the budget for a bit. Mclaneinc
I'll stick to my 1050's and SD-MAX...Those drives are too funky for me

The AT88-S1 I have is only single density, so the equivalent of an 810.

doctor_x
My apologies.. at first glance this look like it was an up-and-up deal.. I dont post ebay auctions here often - but when I find something that *I* consider a gem I assume others might too (like the ATR8000 a few weeks ago) ... I most certainly had zero intent of creating drama.
Mclaneinc
No need for any apologies, just people having a bit of light discussion re the drives...You post away about these gems, theres always a chance that just one person will be looking and have missed out if not for posts like these. There’d be a Hoarders episode about the dude in the Appalachians that had most of the world’s stock of A8 gear ? Edited November 30, 2019 by 777ismyname . A nearby small mountain town did have mountain music once a week for 35 years, but sadly they closed down last year. There were all sorts of banjos, dulcimers, mandolins, and acoustic guitars to be heard. Where I’m at isn’t too dissimilar to the Lake District near you; we have less lakes, the mountains are higher, and are more heavily forested. The direct descendants from my white (I’m 1/4 Indian, or Native American in U.S. parlance) are from Cumbria (I think some still love near Kendal) and eastward over to Northumberland. If I do not make it over there in 2020 it will be 2021. One of these days
Mclaneinc
Sounds lovely and made a bit more famous by Laurel & Hardy... And slightly warmer than Kendal on average Hope you have a great visit if you do come..
